The title alone doesn’t reveal why Just Dance 2023 won’t play. Start by checking whether you own the full game and whether its download finished: Ubisoft says seeing only two songs probably means you’re playing the demo. If you’re trying to use multiplayer or Just Dance+, check your Ubisoft account link, platform subscription, and internet connection—those online requirements don’t automatically apply to launching the base game.
First, check which game and platform you have
Just Dance 2023 Edition is listed for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Make sure the item you bought is the full 2023 Edition, not a demo or another Just Dance release.

The boxed edition is a code-in-a-box: it does not include a cartridge, CD, or disc. You need the included code, a compatible platform account, and an internet connection to redeem and download the game. If you expected a disc, check the packaging for the code and make sure it has not already been used.
“I received a box without a disc or cartridge. How do I get the game?”
Redeem the code in the store for the platform where you want to play: Nintendo eShop on Switch, PlayStation Store on PS5, or the Xbox Store on Xbox Series X|S. Ubisoft’s code-redemption guidance gives platform-specific instructions; code formats and menu paths differ.

Use the platform account that should own the game. If the code was purchased in another country, check region compatibility: Ubisoft specifies that some imported codes require a matching account region on Switch and PS5. After redemption, find the game in your account’s library or downloads and allow the installation to finish before launching it.
“I redeemed the game, but I can’t find it”
- Check the account. Confirm that you redeemed the code while signed in to the intended Nintendo, PlayStation, or Xbox account.
- Open that account’s library or purchase history. Look for Just Dance 2023 Edition and start its download if it is available there.
- Check downloads and storage. A redeemed entitlement is not the same as a completed installation; let the download finish and make sure the console has room for it.
- Close and restart the game. If you redeemed the code while the demo or game was open, quit it fully and launch it again after installation.
If the game still does not appear, keep the code and purchase details, note the platform and account, and contact Ubisoft Support.
“Why do I have access to only two songs?”
Ubisoft says access to only two songs probably means the demo is running. The demo and full game may use the same platform icon, so check the game’s title and ownership in your library rather than relying on the icon alone.

If you bought the full game, verify that its code was redeemed on the account you are using, wait for the download to complete, and restart the game. If it continues to show only the demo songs, contact Ubisoft Support with your platform, proof of purchase, and a description of what appears on screen.
A Just Dance Unlimited subscription does not unlock Just Dance+; they are separate services. Just Dance+ is optional and provides access to its own catalog, but it cannot replace ownership of the base game or convert a demo into the full edition.
Does Just Dance 2023 need an internet connection?
It depends on the console and the feature. Ubisoft says PS5 and Xbox Series X|S require internet to set up the game and use the dedicated controller app. On Switch, internet is needed for Online Groups and access to all songs. Ubisoft Help says Switch players can download up to 40 base-game songs for offline play, subject to available storage and map-version limitations. Just Dance+ maps cannot be downloaded and require internet.

- Dance to over 600 songs with the Just Dance Unlimited subscription streaming service. One month FREE included with the game
- Play with friends and share the fun with co-op mode
- Dance the way you like by creating your own personalized custom playlists
- Enjoy eight new kid-friendly songs and choreographies for a family-fun experience
- Use your smartphone to track moves with the Just Dance Controller app – no additional accessories required. Up to six players can join
That means an internet problem may block setup, particular songs, or online features without proving that every offline part of the base game requires a connection on every platform. Ubisoft’s offline-play guidance describes the platform-specific limits.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Online Groups or Just Dance+ will not work
Ubisoft Help’s online-requirements page, updated 5 October 2026, says multiplayer and Just Dance+ require all of the following:
- A Ubisoft account linked to the platform account.
- An active Nintendo Switch Online, PlayStation Plus, or Xbox Game Pass subscription, as applicable to the console.
- A stable internet connection.
These are requirements for the stated online features; they should not be treated as a universal subscription requirement for starting the base game. Ubisoft described Online Groups at launch as allowing a host to play with up to five invited friends, but that historical feature description does not change the current account, subscription, or connection checks. See Ubisoft’s online-requirements guidance.
What to tell support if you are still stuck
The right fix depends on details such as the console, whether the game was purchased or redeemed, and the exact message or screen. When contacting Ubisoft Support, include:
Quick Recap
- Your platform: Switch, PS5, or Xbox Series X|S.
- Whether you have a digital purchase or a boxed code, and whether the code was redeemed.
- The account used to redeem and play, plus the code’s region if it was imported.
- Whether the download completed and how many songs appear.
- The exact error message or a description of the step where the problem occurs.
