Check the file first, then your quota and moderation status. Roblox also offers free-to-use audio in the Creator Store if you do not need a custom upload.
Why is my audio not uploading to Roblox?
Start with the audio file’s technical properties. Roblox Studio transcodes imported audio before saving it as an asset, both to standardize playback and to check for corrupt or invalid files. Roblox Creator Hub says that an import error is likely to mean Studio rejected the file during this transcode process. Older audio tools can export invalid headers or frames, so a file that appears to meet the visible limits may still fail.
Other possible causes include exceeding your account’s import quota, a pending or failed moderation review, or a rights issue. Roblox’s documentation does not identify which cause applies to your particular upload; the error message, file properties, account status, and any moderation notice are needed to narrow it down.
What audio format does Roblox support?
Roblox Creator Hub’s current Audio assets documentation lists these requirements:

- File format: MP3, OGG, WAV, or FLAC.
- Tracks: One track or stream.
- File size: Less than 20 MB.
- Duration: Less than 7 minutes.
- Sample rate: No greater than 48 kHz.
- Channel layout: Mono, stereo 2.0, 3.0, or 5.1 surround.
Check the encoding and properties, not just the filename extension: renaming a file does not convert it to a supported format. If any property is outside the listed limits, export a new version that meets them.
How to fix a Roblox Studio audio import error
1. Check the file’s properties
Verify the format, size, duration, sample rate, and channel layout against the requirements above. If you are importing a multitrack project, export it as a single track or stream before uploading.

2. Make a fresh export
If the file meets the limits but Studio still rejects it, update your audio tool and export a fresh copy in one of the supported formats. Roblox notes that older tools can produce invalid headers or frames, which may prevent Studio from transcoding the file. Recheck the exported file’s properties rather than assuming the new export is within limits.
3. Check your import quota
Roblox Creator Hub currently states that ID-verified users can import 2,000 free audio assets per 30 days, while unverified users can import 100 per 30 days. The same documentation says the daily import limit has been replaced by a simplified monthly limit. These operational limits can change; check the live Creator Hub documentation if you suspect you have reached yours.

4. Review moderation and rights
Roblox reviews uploaded audio against its content moderation policies, scans for potential intellectual-property infringement, and may conduct further human review. Its Audio Upload License Agreement makes you responsible for having the rights and licenses needed to upload the audio. A file may therefore meet the technical requirements but still be blocked or unavailable.
If Roblox blocked or removed the asset, read the moderation notice and follow the appeal option it provides. Roblox explains the process in its content or account moderation appeal guide; appealing does not guarantee that the decision will be reversed.

5. Import through a supported route
Roblox documents audio import through Asset Manager, Creator Dashboard, or the Open Cloud API. Roblox Support also describes browser upload from Create > Audio and importing through Studio. If one route is giving you trouble, try another documented route, but changing the route will not bypass file requirements, quotas, or moderation.
