If neither applies, check your shop region and currency—especially after moving—and use Blizzard’s signed-in Payments support for a declined transaction. A payment alternative such as Battle.net Balance only works for eligible products; it does not remove an account-level purchase restriction.
1. Check Parental Controls
Blizzard says Parental Controls can block purchases from the Battle.net Shop and purchases in selected games. If you see the message “We couldn’t process your purchase because of your Parental Controls settings,” review the account’s purchase settings in the Account Settings or Parental Portal.

For Hearthstone purchases made on a mobile device, check the controls for the platform account used to pay: Apple, Google Play, or Amazon Appstore. Those mobile purchases are handled through the relevant store’s account controls.
See Blizzard’s Parental Controls guidance.
2. Complete any age-verification prompt
Some countries require Battle.net age verification. Blizzard says an account may have feature restrictions until verification is complete. If a verification prompt appears, follow the instructions for your country; Blizzard lists routes for Australia, Brazil, and the UK in its Age Verification on a Battle.net Account guidance.

#1 Best Overall
- Charge up your Battle.net experience! Battle.net Balance is a different way to buy our digital products and services.
- Load up your balance using one of many different payment methods, then spend it on Battle.net games, services, in-game items, and more!
- To use your Battle.net Balance, simply select it as your payment method during the purchase process.
- Payments can be split between Battle.net Balance and other preferred payment methods*, allowing you to use up any leftover balance in the process. * Product currency must match Balance Currency. Disabled for some payment methods with long expiration times.
- eGift Cards are delivered active via email or SMS.
3. Check your shop region and currency
If you recently moved or changed your shop region, compare the country and currency shown for the shop with your account’s current region. Blizzard’s country and region guidance explains when an account change may be available and how it can affect Balance. Balance cannot be converted between currencies; a country change may reset it and is subject to an eligibility threshold. Review Battle.net Account Country/Region Change before changing account details.
4. Use signed-in Payments support for a declined transaction
A purchase error alone does not reveal whether the cause is the payment method, the order, or an account-specific restriction. The exact cause depends on details such as the error text, country, product, and payment method. Sign in to Blizzard Support and choose Payments; Blizzard says signing in provides more support options.

5. Consider Battle.net Balance only if the product is eligible
Balance can pay for most Battle.net Shop products and services, and Blizzard says Balance codes can be redeemed through account management. It cannot be combined with another payment method and is not accepted for every use. Check the intended product and shop currency before relying on it; Balance restrictions are described in Blizzard’s Battle.net Balance restrictions guidance.
A Balance code is a different way to fund an eligible purchase, not a workaround for Parental Controls, incomplete age verification, or another account-level block.

What to check before contacting support
- The exact wording of the error message.
- The country and currency shown in the shop, particularly if you moved or changed regions.
- Whether Parental Controls allow the purchase and whether an age-verification prompt is outstanding.
- The product and payment method you were trying to use.
If those checks do not resolve the problem, sign in and contact Blizzard through Payments support so the purchase and account details can be reviewed.

- An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.
- Redemption: Online
