What does Ciri’s new role mean for the game?
The Witcher IV makes Ciri the player character and lead of a new saga. In an interview published on December 18, 2024, Xbox Wire described the developers’ aim as respecting the series’ past while moving it into a new era. That context explains Ciri’s prominence in the next game, but it does not explain why Berkeley replaced Wyatt.
CD Projekt Red’s press center describes The Witcher IV as an upcoming single-player, open-world role-playing game developed in-house, with Ciri as its player character. That description is not a release-date announcement.
