If you did not make the item, compare it across experiences, avatars, and devices. If you did, check its image format and template, then preview it on a block avatar in Roblox Studio.
First, work out whether the problem is one item or a wider display issue
Check whether one clothing item looks blurry or whether several do. Then compare the same item and avatar in another experience and, if possible, on another device. These comparisons can help narrow down where the problem appears, but Roblox’s documentation does not identify a specific client-side cause for every case of blurry clothing.
- One item looks blurry: If you created it, inspect the original artwork, item type, and template. If it is someone else’s item, you cannot correct its source image yourself.
- One avatar looks wrong: Try the clothing on a different avatar. Many user-generated Marketplace avatars do not support classic 2D clothing, though Roblox does not say that incompatibility necessarily causes blur.
- One experience or device looks different: Compare the graphics settings available in the experience and test on another device. Treat these as diagnostic comparisons, not guaranteed fixes: Roblox confirms that graphics settings exist but does not promise that changing them sharpens clothing textures.
If you made the clothing, check its type and template
Classic clothing is 2D artwork mapped onto parts of an avatar. A classic T-shirt uses the front of the torso, while classic shirts and pants map artwork across torso or leg surfaces. Their layouts differ, so use the current Roblox template for the exact item type instead of stretching an image or starting from a different clothing template.
Roblox’s Creator Hub gives a 512 × 512-pixel image as an example for a T-shirt. Its classic shirt and pants templates divide artwork into regions with shapes including 128 × 128, 64 × 128, 128 × 64, and 64 × 64 pixels. These are template-region dimensions, not a single stated canvas size for every shirt or pants image; use the current downloadable template for the item you are making. Check the exported image
Roblox Support lists GIF, PNG, and JPG as accepted upload formats. Confirm that your exported image is in one of those formats and that its dimensions still match the template. Editing or saving can shift dimensions by one or two pixels, which Roblox identifies as a potential template-related upload problem. Follow the checks in Roblox Support’s shirt and pants upload guidance.
Preview classic clothing in Studio before uploading
Roblox recommends testing classic clothing in Studio. Use a block avatar rig and apply the image to the matching object and property: ShirtGraphic for a T-shirt, Shirt for a classic shirt, or Pants for classic pants. If the texture already looks wrong on the block rig, revisit the artwork and template before testing it on a different avatar. For an upload problem, recheck the file format and dimensions, then contact Roblox Support if you still need help. For blur that appears only in one experience, on one device, or on one avatar, use those comparisons to describe exactly where it occurs; the official guidance does not establish one fix for every rendering or compatibility case.
