An “Expired” status generally means your Minecraft Realms subscription is no longer active. If you play Bedrock Edition, you can renew it from the Realm’s Subscription settings. The steps differ by edition, and Minecraft’s menus have recently changed, so use the labels currently shown in your game if they do not match the path below.
What “Expired” means
“Expired” refers to the subscription, not necessarily to the world being immediately gone. Minecraft’s January 26, 2022 notice says canceled or expired Realms will be deleted after 18 months. If you want to keep a world, download it locally while it is still accessible; renewal and downloading serve different purposes.
How to renew an expired Bedrock Realm
- Open Minecraft and select Play.
- Open the Realms tab and select the settings for the affected Realm.
- Choose Subscription, then Manage Subscription.
- Complete the purchase flow to start a new subscription for that Realm.
Minecraft’s official Bedrock renewal instructions provide the current steps. The Subscriptions page and expired-subscription screen changed in Bedrock release and Preview notes posted August 4 and September 2, 2026, respectively; controls can vary by platform or release.
Check when the next payment is due
On Bedrock, open Settings > Subscriptions from the title screen. The Realm entry shows the number of days remaining until the next payment is due. See Minecraft’s instructions for viewing a Bedrock Realm renewal date.

If renewal fails
Before retrying, check that your payment method is active, has sufficient funds, and has correct billing details. Minecraft also notes that a mismatch between the payment method’s country, your current location, or your device-store region can prevent a purchase. If your bank or payment provider blocked it, contact them; if the issue persists, contact Minecraft Support.
Keep a copy of the world
If preserving the world matters more than continuing the online subscription, download it locally while the Realm remains accessible. Minecraft’s 2022 notice says canceled or expired Realms will be deleted after 18 months, but that general notice does not establish the recovery status of an individual world. Contact official support about your account if the Realm is no longer accessible.

Java and Bedrock renewal steps are different
Minecraft lists separate expired-subscription renewal help for Java Edition and Bedrock Edition. The menu path above is for Bedrock; do not assume it applies to Java. Use Minecraft’s Realms subscription support listing to select the instructions for your edition.
