Why Does Roblox Say “No Network” When My Wi-Fi Is Connected?

Roblox can show “No Network” while your Wi-Fi icon looks normal. Here is how to tell whether the cause is the app, your network, a firewall, or Roblox itself.

A Wi-Fi icon only shows that your device has a local network link. Roblox needs a working path to its own servers, and that path can fail even when Wi-Fi looks normal. Roblox’s support article on the iOS “No Network” alert acknowledges that some players see it while on Wi-Fi, so the message alone does not tell you whether the cause is the app, the Wi-Fi network, a firewall or router, an unstable connection, or a problem on Roblox’s side. The fastest way to narrow it down is to run a short series of checks, starting with the device you are using.

What the message does and does not tell you

The iOS alert reads “No Network” Please retry when connected to the internet. It is a general connectivity failure reported by the app, not a diagnosis. Roblox Support’s General Connection Problems article makes the most specific claim about the cause of broad failures, stating: “Firewall: This is very frequently a firewall problem, though it can (in very few cases) be the result of a low-bandwidth connection or an inconsistent wireless connection.” That makes a firewall or router rule the first suspect on a home network, while a weak or intermittent wireless link is a less common cause.

If you are on an iPhone or iPad

These steps follow Roblox Support’s guidance for the iOS message. The extra comparison step is a diagnostic test, not a fix Roblox prescribes for this alert.

  1. Update Roblox. Open the Roblox listing in the App Store, and install the update if one is offered. Roblox asks iOS users to run the most recent app version.
  2. Close and reopen the app. Fully quit Roblox, launch it again, and retry.
  3. Test a different network. If your plan allows Roblox over cellular data, turn Wi-Fi off in Settings and try again. If Roblox loads on cellular but not on Wi-Fi, the problem is tied to that network path, such as the router, its firewall settings, or the wireless link. If it fails on both networks, it more likely follows the device, the app, or Roblox’s servers.
  4. Contact Roblox Support if the alert remains. Include your username, the exact error text, your iPhone or iPad model, your iOS version, and the steps that reproduce the problem.

If you are on a computer or another device

Roblox’s general connection guide covers desktop and other devices. Work through these checks in order, because each one rules out a whole category of cause.

TP-Link AX1800 WiFi 6 Router (Archer AX21 V5)
  • DUAL-BAND WIFI 6 ROUTER: Wi-Fi 6(802.11ax) technology achieves faster speeds, greater capacity and reduced network congestion compared to the previous gen. All WiFi routers require a separate modem. Dual-Band WiFi routers do not support the 6 GHz band.
  • AX1800: Enjoy smoother and more stable streaming, gaming, downloading with 1.8 Gbps total bandwidth (up to 1200 Mbps on 5 GHz and up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz). Performance varies by conditions, distance to devices, and obstacles such as walls.
  • CONNECT MORE DEVICES: Wi-Fi 6 technology communicates more data to more devices simultaneously using revolutionary OFDMA technology
  • EXTENSIVE COVERAGE: Achieve the strong, reliable WiFi coverage with Archer AX1800 as it focuses signal strength to your devices far away using Beamforming technology, 4 high-gain antennas and an advanced front-end module (FEM) chipset
  • OUR CYBERSECURITY COMMITMENT: TP-Link is a signatory of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Secure-by-Design pledge. This device is designed, built, and maintained, with advanced security as a core requirement.
  1. Check whether other sites and apps work on the same connection. If nothing loads, the internet connection itself is failing. Restart the router and modem, then test again before changing Roblox settings.
  2. Try a different internet source. A phone hotspot or another network is the simplest comparison. If the device supports it, try a wired Ethernet connection to rule out an inconsistent wireless link. Ethernet is optional: some devices have no port or need an adapter, and a cable will not fix an outdated app, a Roblox outage, a firewall rule, or a problem with a specific experience.
  3. Update or change the browser. If you play in a browser, update it or try another supported browser. Review the browser’s security settings, and temporarily disable extensions such as ad blockers that can interfere with loading. Re-enable them once you have finished testing.
  4. Check firewall and router rules. Make sure Roblox is allowed through. Roblox’s general connection article lists the UDP port range 49152–65535. Follow Roblox’s current official instructions for any router or firewall change, and avoid turning off your security protection broadly.
  5. Separate slow loading from a failed connection. A large experience can take a while to download. If only one experience fails or appears empty, Roblox notes that the experience itself may be empty or have a creator-side problem.
  6. Reinstall only after the simpler checks. If the problem continues, reinstall Roblox and retest. If it still fails, contact Roblox Support with the error text, device model, OS version, reproduction steps, and any recent network or device changes.

Similar messages that point to different causes

Roblox uses separate codes and labels for different failures. Matching your message to the right row keeps you from running checks that do not apply.

Message or symptom What Roblox Support says First check
“No Network” (iOS) Some iOS users see it while on Wi-Fi. Roblox’s first steps are to install the latest app and reopen it. Update, reopen, then contact Roblox Support if it persists.
Error 279 (ID 17) Difficulty establishing a connection between the client and Roblox’s servers. Try a different internet source. App steps vary by operating system.
Error 266 A connection timeout. Try an alternate internet source. If the problem remains, contact your internet provider.
Network lag Caused by a slow or unstable internet connection. Check connection stability and test another network.
Graphics or system lag Distinct from network lag, and calls for different checks. Follow the separate lag guidance rather than network changes.

Mobile connection requirements

Roblox Support’s mobile system requirements page lists a minimum internet connection of 4–8 Mb/s (page accessed in 2026). That is a published minimum, not a guarantee of stable play, and it does not diagnose this alert. If a speed test on your Wi-Fi comes in well below that range, a slow connection may be part of the problem.
