Player discussions are the only direct source for the disappearance itself. Two threads stand out, and they are useful for understanding the problem, not for explaining it.

A recent thread about the Hellfire Torch
In a recent r/bloxfruits discussion, a player asked why the Captain can despawn in the middle of a fight. The reported case is a despawn at about half health while the player was trying to obtain the Hellfire Torch. Replies in that thread suggest a time limit. Those are individual players’ opinions, and nothing in the thread establishes a specific timeout.
An older thread about daybreak
An older r/bloxfruits discussion also reports the Captain disappearing and links it to the switch to daytime. The thread offers this as a theory. It does not show that the change in time of day triggers the despawn.
Why the spawn schedule does not explain the despawn
The spawn information and the disappearance are separate questions. The spawn cycle tells a player when the boss is likely to appear. It says nothing about what removes the boss after it has appeared.

The only documented despawn rule found is on the wiki’s general Raid Bosses page. It says raid bosses may despawn after a period without being attacked. That describes a boss left alone, not one a player is actively damaging. The page does not give a Cursed Captain timeout, and it does not link the rule to mid-fight disappearances. So it cannot be used to explain the reports as they are written.
Player strategies people suggest
Players in these threads offer two practical responses. Neither is confirmed to prevent the despawn.
- Deal damage faster. This is the advice that follows from the time-limit theory. If a timer exists, faster damage would shorten the fight, but no source measures a timer.
- Switch servers. Players mention changing servers as a workaround. No source confirms that it changes the outcome, and it may reset nothing about the boss’s current fight.
What remains unknown
- Whether a fight timer exists, and if so how long it lasts.
- Whether daybreak or any change in in-game time affects the boss.
- Whether the despawn follows a health threshold, since the reported case involves a single player’s fight at about half health.
- Whether the behavior is intended design or a bug.
The answer may change with a game update, and the community pages are edited over time. Check the Cursed Captain wiki page and the game’s official update announcements before relying on any explanation, including the ones in this article.
