If Xbox keeps signing you out, the sign-out is a symptom—not a diagnosis. Possible causes include a Microsoft account security or verification prompt, a recent credential change, a sign-in problem limited to the console, or an explicit enforcement notice. Note when it happens, whether the same account works elsewhere, and the exact message or error code; those clues point to the right next step.
First, identify when and where the sign-out happens
Before changing account or console settings, write down what you see. Does Xbox sign you out during startup, after inactivity, or when you launch a game? Does it ask for a password or security code, return to a sign-in screen without explanation, or display a suspension notice? Record the full wording and any error code. A recurring sign-in loop alone does not identify its cause.
Then check whether the same Microsoft account can sign in to other Microsoft services. If it also has trouble elsewhere, investigate the account and its security first. If the issue appears only on the Xbox console, that is useful evidence that the problem is console-specific, but it does not by itself prove that local data is damaged.
Check the account’s security and recent activity
Review Microsoft account Recent activity for sign-ins you do not recognize. Microsoft’s page provides details such as the access method and location for listed activity. If something looks unfamiliar, follow Microsoft’s account-protection guidance and check that your security contact and verification details are current.

A password or security-setting change can affect how you sign in. If Xbox asks for a code, password, or another verification step, use the current guidance for that specific prompt or error rather than assuming every account must use the same sign-in setup. Xbox support has guidance on account sign-in issues and two-step verification.

What “sign out everywhere” does—and does not do
Microsoft’s sign out everywhere option excludes Xbox consoles, so it is not a way to remotely clear an Xbox session. Microsoft says signing out can take up to 24 hours for the browsers, apps, and other places covered by that action; that timing does not mean an Xbox console session will be cleared.

When to contact Xbox Support
If the loop continues, contact Xbox Support with useful details ready:
- Your Xbox console model.
- The complete message and any error code.
- When the issue began and whether it happens at startup, after inactivity, or during a game launch.
- Any recent password, security, or verification changes.
- Whether the same account can sign in to other Microsoft services.
Profile removal and re-addition are sometimes suggested in community Q&A, but those reports do not establish an official, reliable fix for recurring sign-outs. A replacement console is likewise not a proven remedy for an account sign-in problem.
