DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO supports one-console local split-screen versus on every playable stage on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam after a December 12, 2024 update. On Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, local split-screen remains limited to the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. This is versus multiplayer, not a cooperative story campaign.
Does Sparking! ZERO have split-screen?
Yes. The game has offline, one-console split-screen battles. The available stages depend on the platform: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam support all playable stages, while the Switch versions are limited to the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, according to Bandai Namco’s platform notice and platform information.

Why was local multiplayer originally limited to one stage?
When Bandai Namco first announced split-screen in June 2024, it planned to allow the mode only in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. Producer Jun Furutani said that preserving the game’s effects and dynamic environmental destruction in local split-screen was difficult. The team had designed the game with online multiplayer and offline single-player in mind, then chose the chamber as the split-screen setting.
The original plan also reflected how character selection had been built: players chose fighters sequentially, one at a time, rather than selecting simultaneously. Furutani’s explanation appeared in Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe’s June 13, 2024 gameplay showcase. That statement describes the launch-era plan, not the current stage availability on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, or Steam.

What changed after launch?
On December 12, 2024, Bandai Namco announced local split-screen across all playable stages for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. The change expanded stage choice on those versions; it did not turn the mode into co-op campaign play.
Bandai Namco’s later Switch-family guidance continues to specify the Hyperbolic Time Chamber as the only stage for one-console split-screen on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Check the notice for the relevant platform and update-version context before assuming another version follows the same rules.

Is Sparking! ZERO co-op?
Not in the sense of a cooperative story campaign. Bandai Namco describes Episode Battle as a single-player mode and split-screen as versus battles; its game information distinguishes those modes. If you want to play against someone on the same console, the feature is local split-screen versus, with the stage restriction determined by platform.
