Fortnite disabled its Peaceful Hips emote on September 28, 2025, after viewers said some of its movements resembled a swastika in light of a reveal in Peacemaker Season 2. Epic later said it found no creative intent to connect the dance to the show’s storyline, but planned to modify the choreography and let purchasers return the emote without using a refund ticket.
What happened to the Peaceful Hips emote?
Peaceful Hips was a Fortnite emote based on part of the opening dance from Peacemaker Season 2. It entered the game on September 15, 2025. After the show’s sixth episode revealed that the alternate universe in the season was Nazi-controlled, some viewers interpreted the dance’s brief arm movements as resembling a swastika. That was a viewer interpretation of the choreography in the new context, not an established intentional message in the emote. Ars Technica reported the disabling and the episode context on September 29, 2025.
Why did Fortnite disable it?
On September 28, Fortnite Support said it was disabling the emote while it asked its collaboration partner about the creative intentions behind it. The statement made refunds conditional on the emote not returning: “We’re disabling the Peaceful Hips Emote in Fortnite as we inquire into our partner’s creative intentions in this collab emote. Assuming it’s not coming back, we’ll issue refunds in the next few days. Sorry folks.” Ars Technica attributed that statement to Fortnite Support.
What did Fortnite later say about the dance and refunds?
On October 1, Fortnite Status said it had worked with Warner Bros. Games and confirmed there was no creative intent to connect Peaceful Hips to the current Peacemaker storyline. Fortnite nevertheless said it would modify the choreography to avoid confusion. PC Gamer reported the clarification on October 2, 2025.
