When does GTA 6 come out?
Take-Two’s May 2026 release materials and Rockstar’s June 2026 pre-order announcement both list November 19, 2026, for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Take-Two said it expected the game’s launch to drive fiscal 2027 operating performance, a forecast that shows the release’s business importance but does not guarantee the date. Why was GTA 6 delayed?
Take-Two’s explanation for the first shift
In May 2025, Take-Two said the game, then expected in Fall 2025, would instead arrive on May 26, 2026. CEO Strauss Zelnick said the company supported Rockstar “taking additional time to realize their creative vision” and emphasized its commitment to excellence. What Zelnick said about the time involved
In June 2026 interview coverage, Zelnick described Rockstar’s ambition this way: “The team at Rockstar really does seek to do something that’s never been done before. That’s really hard, and it takes a long time.” This offers broad context about the scale of the creative goal, not a technical explanation or a detailed account of the schedule. The quote was reported by TechRadar in June 2026.

Why the date moved again
In November 2025, Rockstar and Take-Two moved the planned date from May 26 to November 19, 2026. Take-Two said it remained excited and confident in Rockstar’s ability to deliver an “unrivalled blockbuster entertainment experience.” The public statements establish the revised date and management’s confidence, but they do not give a complete explanation of the internal decisions behind that second shift. Claims that it was caused by a particular technical issue, marketing plan, hardware constraint, or financial strategy are not established by these statements. Is the release date still a mystery?
Not in the sense that no date has been announced: November 19, 2026 is the latest official schedule identified here. The uncertainty is that any announced plan can change, and Take-Two and Rockstar have not shared a full internal account of each scheduling decision. The earlier announced dates show how the plan evolved:

Which platforms are announced, and is there a PC date?
Rockstar’s June 2026 launch announcement lists PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The launch materials cited here do not announce a PC release date, so no PC timing can be confirmed from them. Zelnick’s general comments about Take-Two releasing games on platforms with meaningful audiences over time are not a specific PC announcement or a timing commitment.

Rockstar’s June 24, 2026 announcement said pre-orders would begin June 25 at midnight local time. It listed U.S. announced prices of $79.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition; those are announcement-date prices, not a guarantee of current or regional retail pricing. Digital pre-orders could preload beginning November 12. The announced physical version was a box containing a download code, not evidence of a game disc.
