What AdHoc said about the Invisigal ending
Players had questioned whether the branch in which Invisigal kills Shroud was bugged, including whether it was being triggered in Episode 8. GamesRadar+ reported that Polly, identified as a registered AdHoc administrator on the official Dispatch Discord, answered: “There was no glitch that caused Invisigal to always kill Shroud.”
Polly’s explanation was that Invisigal’s success as Robert’s mentee is shaped by more than dialogue and story decisions. As Polly put it, “Succeeding or failing as Invisigal’s mentor is not solely tied to the choices you make as Robert, but also the decisions you make as her dispatcher across the season’s shifts.” GamesRadar+ reported Polly’s clarification.
That addresses the game’s intended outcome logic; it does not establish that an individual save or installation can never have a separate technical issue. Nor does it establish that a later patch has left the ending behavior unchanged.

Why repeating story choices may not change the ending
Dispatch combines interactive story decisions with shifts where you dispatch heroes to calls. PC Gamer describes it as an eight-episode superhero workplace comedy that mixes dialogue and story choices with dispatcher gameplay. According to Polly’s reported explanation, those two parts both matter to Invisigal’s outcome.
GamesRadar+ says the outcome is not determined only by decisions in Episodes 7 and 8. If you replay the story but make the same dispatch decisions, you may therefore see the same result. Polly’s reported suggestion for players repeating the same story choices was to try replaying the shifts as well.
