Please sign in with your previously connected Microsoft account.” Read that wording literally: the game is not saying your password is wrong. It is saying the PlayStation profile you are using already has a Microsoft account attached, and that Microsoft account is the one it expects.
A Microsoft Community reply describes the same relationship in plain terms: a Microsoft account is linked to a PSN account, and the player should use the account that was previously associated with it. That reply is community guidance from another player, not official policy, so treat it as a strong pointer rather than a guarantee that every case works the same way.
How to fix it on PlayStation
- Read the whole error message. Note any gamertag, email fragment, or account hint it shows. That hint is the clearest clue to which Microsoft account is already attached.
- Find the Microsoft account you used originally. Check the email addresses you have used for Microsoft, Xbox, or earlier Minecraft purchases, and the account you signed in with when you first set up Minecraft on this PlayStation profile.
- Sign in with that account. When the prompt asks for the previously connected account, enter that Microsoft account instead of the one you were trying to add.
- Check Minecraft’s PlayStation sign-in troubleshooting guidance. A Microsoft Q&A response points to a Minecraft support page for this scenario. The page’s detailed steps were not readable in the sources used for this article, so follow what the page itself says rather than a summary from elsewhere.
When you cannot identify the previous account

- Minecraft Support first, and describe the exact error text, the PlayStation profile, and the Microsoft accounts you believe you own.
- PlayStation support if the problem appears tied to the PSN profile itself, or if Minecraft Support points you there.
Support may or may not be able to remove or move a link. Community replies recommend these channels, but none of the sources reviewed establishes that support will reassign a link on request, so do not plan around that outcome.

- Unlinking. A Mojang bug report describes a player who unlinked the account, saw the unlink appear to succeed, and still got the same error when connecting a second Microsoft account.
- Reinstalling the game or deleting local data. In the same reported case, reinstalling did not change the outcome.
That is one reported failure, not proof that every player will hit the same behaviour. It does mean that unlinking and reinstalling should be tried only as a last resort, and never as a guaranteed way to switch accounts.
Other platforms
The explanation above rests on PlayStation reports. The sources reviewed do not establish whether Xbox, Nintendo Switch, Windows, or mobile use the same linking logic or show the same message.
