Completing Roblox’s age check does not turn Voice Chat on by itself. Once your age is verified, you still have to meet the remaining eligibility rules, join an experience that supports voice, and opt in yourself. If one of those steps is missing, the feature will not appear or will not work, even though your age check succeeded.
What Roblox requires before Voice Chat can work
Roblox’s current Support guidance lists four conditions. All of them have to be true at the same time:
- Minimum age of 13. Voice Chat is limited to users who are at least 13.
- An accepted age check. The check must be completed through ID verification or Facial Age Estimation. Phone verification alone no longer qualifies. Roblox states that phone verification is not a valid method to gain access to Voice Chat following its updates.
- A supported region. Voice Chat is not available everywhere.
- An experience that supports voice, plus your opt-in. Developers decide whether to integrate Voice Chat into their experiences, and Voice Chat is off by default.
The age check is only the first of these. Many people stop troubleshooting once the age check shows as complete, which is why the feature seems to disappear for no clear reason.
How to turn Voice Chat on
Roblox’s “How do I turn on Voice Chat?” help article describes two ways to opt in. In a supported experience, use either of the following:

- Open the experience’s in-experience settings and enable Voice Chat there.
- Select the headphone icon in the experience and turn voice on.
Exact menu labels can differ from one experience to another because each developer designs its own interface, so look for the headphone icon if the settings menu does not show an obvious option. If you have never opted in, Voice Chat will stay off even though your account is eligible.
Why the Voice Chat control may be missing
When the headphone icon or the settings option does not appear, work through the cases below in order. Each one has a different cause and a different fix.

Case 1: The experience does not support voice
Voice Chat is an optional integration. A developer may never have added it to a game, so no voice control will appear there regardless of your account status. Try a different experience that you know offers voice. If the control appears in one game but not another, the difference is almost certainly the developer’s choice, not your account.
Case 2: Your region is not supported
Roblox says Voice Chat may be unavailable in some regions. Its guidance treats a missing toggle after a completed age check as a possible sign of regional unavailability. The country list is long and Roblox can change it, so check the “Voice FAQ” on Roblox Support for the current list rather than relying on an older article or forum post. If your country is not on the list, no amount of re-verifying will enable the feature.

Case 3: The age check did not complete the way Roblox expects
If your account still shows an age-check problem, confirm that it was completed by ID verification or Facial Age Estimation. A phone number confirmation will not unlock Voice Chat. Roblox’s “Understanding Age Checks on Roblox” article explains that you may be prompted to check your age again if Roblox detects a discrepancy. If an estimated age looks wrong, follow the correction guidance in that article. Support cannot be assumed to change an age-check status manually, so do not expect a ticket alone to fix it.
Case 4: Voice is on but you cannot hear or be heard
If you connect but no audio passes in either direction, check whether the microphone is muted. Roblox says you can mute and unmute the microphone on your device or inside the experience, so check both places. Roblox’s cited help does not describe operating-system permissions or hardware faults. If the mute state is correct and the problem persists, general device checks such as confirming that your system’s microphone input is working in other apps are reasonable next steps, but these are general troubleshooting rather than Roblox requirements.

Who you can talk to
Passing the age check does not give you access to every other player. Roblox says age-checked users communicate with people in similar age groups. If you can access voice but seem to hear no one, the cause may simply be that the other players in the experience fall outside your age group.

- Your country appears on the current Voice FAQ list.
- You are in an experience that supports Voice Chat.
- You have opted in through the settings or headphone icon.
- Your microphone is not muted on the device or in the experience.
If every item is true and the control still does not appear in any supported experience, the most likely explanations are regional availability or an age-check record that Roblox has flagged for review.
