If the problem continues, compare the result on another network and ask your internet provider to check the connection path. The loading message alone does not identify the cause, and none of these steps is a guaranteed fix.
What “Entering Game” can—and cannot—tell you
Players use “stuck on ‘Entering Game’” to describe a hang while Overwatch is transitioning into a match. Reports vary: some players wait for a long time, some eventually enter, and others see “Lost connection to game server” or “Failed to connect to server.” These are player descriptions, not technical diagnoses, so the screen by itself cannot tell you whether the issue is local, network-related, or affecting a service or region.

Regional trouble is one possibility, but old reports cannot establish current server status. A May 2026 thread associated reports from New Zealand players with an issue that seemed to resolve; a June 2026 reply said NA and OCE servers were not down at that particular time. Other explanations are also unconfirmed. A May discussion raised a poor connection to the computer or a network-card issue as possibilities, but did not verify either. A July 2026 player said restarting the computer and Battle.net, running Battle.net as administrator, and reinstalling did not fix their issue. Reinstalling therefore should not be treated as proof that the game files are responsible—or as a necessary early step.

What to try, in order
- Restart Overwatch once. One player reported in August 2026 that restarting cleared the stuck screen. That is a reasonable quick check, not a guaranteed remedy. If the problem remains, move on rather than repeating restarts indefinitely. (August 2026 player report)
- Check for current reports matching your region and platform. Look for reports posted now, not just old discussions. Note whether other players are affected and whether reports concern the same platform. Historical New Zealand, NA, and OCE posts cannot answer whether there is an outage today.
- Record exactly what happens. Note whether the screen stays indefinitely, eventually changes to “Lost connection to game server,” or displays “Failed to connect to server.” Include your platform, region, approximate time, whether friends are affected, and whether other online services work. These details help distinguish a one-device problem from a broader pattern when you report it.
- Compare another network if you can. A forum volunteer suggested testing a different connection, such as a hotspot, and asking the ISP to check its network path or leased equipment. Treat this as peer advice—not an official Blizzard procedure or a confirmed fix. If the result changes on another network, tell your ISP what you tested and when. - Do not buy replacement hardware based on this message alone. The reports do not establish a failed router, cable, or network adapter as the cause. One Xbox discussion described two wired consoles with the symptom, while a network-card problem in another discussion was only speculation. (Xbox report)
Does the fix depend on platform?
The reports include PC, Xbox, Battle.net, and Steam, but do not establish a platform-specific fix. One July account involved Battle.net; another player said the symptom later appeared for them on both Steam and Battle.net. An Xbox report described the issue on two wired consoles. These examples are useful context, not evidence that a particular launcher or platform is responsible.
Because current official troubleshooting and service-status details are not established here, use the support and status information available for your platform at the time of the problem rather than assuming a forum workaround applies to your setup.

What if a competitive match disconnects?
Do not count on a competitive disconnect penalty being reversed. An Xbox forum reply claimed penalties could not be reversed, but a current official policy was not verified. Check Blizzard’s current official rules before relying on any claim about penalties or appeals.
