Super Chat is unavailable when the creator or location is ineligible, the feature is not enabled in YouTube Studio, the particular stream is restricted, or live chat is off. If you’re watching, an embedded player or a supervised account can also explain why you don’t see the option. First identify whether it’s missing across the channel, on one stream, or only for one viewer.
If Super Chat is missing across the channel
Channel-wide absence usually points to creator eligibility, location, required terms, or feature activation. YouTube’s fan-funding eligibility requires the creator to be in the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), be at least 18, live in a location where Supers are available, and accept and comply with the applicable Commerce Product Module. YouTube’s Super Chat and Super Stickers guidance explains the requirements.
- Open YouTube Studio and select Earn.
- Look for the Supers tab or card. YouTube says it appears when the channel has access.
- If it is available, review and accept the Commerce Product Module if prompted, then turn on Super Chat in Studio or the Studio mobile app.
- If the Supers tab or card is absent, check the channel’s YPP status, the creator’s age and location, and whether the channel has accepted the applicable terms.
Eligibility for one monetization feature does not guarantee access to every other feature. YouTube notes that individual features can have additional criteria and may be unavailable because of local legal requirements or channel or video review. See YouTube’s overview of channel monetization features.
Check the creator’s location, not just the viewer’s
Super Chat and Super Stickers are offered only to eligible creators in supported locations. Check YouTube’s current location list for the creator’s location; it can change. A viewer’s country by itself does not determine whether the creator is eligible.

If Super Chat is missing on just one stream
A channel can qualify while a particular video or live stream remains ineligible. Check the affected stream’s settings and status. YouTube lists these as ineligible for Super Chat and Super Stickers:
- Private or unlisted videos
- Age-restricted videos
- Videos marked Made for Kids
- YouTube Giving fundraiser videos
Live chat or comments being turned off also makes Supers unavailable for that stream. Check the stream’s audience designation, visibility, restrictions, and chat settings in YouTube Studio. See YouTube’s Super Chat eligibility guidance.

If only one viewer cannot see or send a Super Chat
Open the stream on YouTube
If the stream is playing in an embedded player on another website, open its YouTube watch page. YouTube Live Chat is available on watch pages, not embedded players, so the embedded view may not show the controls needed to use Super Chat. See YouTube’s Live Chat guidance.
Check whether the account is supervised
Supervised accounts may not have access to Supers. If other viewers can see the option but one cannot, check that viewer’s account and viewing context before concluding that the creator’s channel has lost access. YouTube describes this limitation in its guidance for supervised experiences.

Use the pattern to narrow down the cause
| What you observe | Likely area to check |
|---|---|
| Super Chat is missing on every stream | Creator eligibility, supported location, Commerce Product Module, or whether Supers are enabled in Studio |
| It is missing on one stream but available on others | That stream’s visibility, age restriction, Made for Kids designation, fundraiser status, or live chat/comments settings |
| Other viewers see it, but one viewer does not | Whether the viewer is using an embedded player or a supervised account |
This comparison follows YouTube’s separate channel, video, and viewer requirements; it is a way to focus troubleshooting, not a guarantee of the cause. If the checks do not resolve it, consult the relevant YouTube Supers guidance and Live Chat guidance.
What Super Chat does—and what it does not fix
Super Chat is a fan-funding feature for highlighted messages in eligible live chat on streams and Premieres. It does not override creator eligibility or a stream’s restrictions. YouTube Help says creators receive 70% of Supers revenue confirmed by Google, calculated after local sales tax and, on iOS, App Store fees are deducted. See YouTube’s Manage YouTube Super Chat & Super Stickers for Live Chat guidance for details.
