The pawn shop is a working feature of Schedule I, and its counter clerk, Mick Lubbin, has a documented history of failing to appear at it. The developer’s v0.3.4 notes added the shop, and a later beta patch (v0.3.4f5) fixed schedule issues that could keep Mick away. If he is still missing, update the game first, then try the low-impact workarounds below. There is no confirmed fix for every build, so if he stays absent after an update, treat it as an open bug and report it.
What the pawn shop does in Schedule I
The Schedule I Team’s v0.3.4 release notes, dated April 10, 2025, say the update added the pawn shop’s interior and its functionality. According to those notes, players can sell almost anything to Mick except product. The shop is therefore a normal part of the economy, not a hidden or optional side area, and an empty counter is a bug, not the intended design.
Why Mick can be absent from the counter
Mick’s appearance depends on an NPC schedule, the set of times and places the game expects him to be. When that schedule misfires, he can stay out of the shop even though the shop itself works. The developer has acknowledged exactly this symptom. The v0.3.4f5 beta notes, dated April 15, 2025, include this entry:
“Fixed some issues in Mick’s schedule that may have caused him to not appear at the pawn shop.”

That note confirms the missing-NPC problem was a recognized schedule issue in April 2025. It does not prove that the same bug is absent from every build released since then. The v0.3.4f5 entry was also a beta-branch patch, so it reached only players opted into that branch, not the stable release.
Troubleshooting order
- Confirm your game version. Check the version shown on the main menu or in the Steam game properties, then compare it with the latest release notes from the Schedule I Team. If you are on a build older than v0.3.4, update to the current stable release through Steam before doing anything else, since the shop does not exist in earlier versions.
- Try a low-impact reload. Sleep until the next in-game day, or save, return to the main menu, and load the same save. Several Steam players reported that this briefly brought Mick back. Reports conflict, so treat this as something to try, not a fix.
- Check Mick’s dealer assignment only as a test. Some players suspected a dealer list affected Mick’s behavior, but other reports say removing him from a dealer list did not help most affected players. Make the change only if you are willing to reverse it, and do not expect it to solve the problem.
- If he is still missing, report the bug. Note your game version, the save’s in-game day and time, and whether Mick appeared at any point in that session. Send this through the developer’s official support channels so the schedule behavior can be checked against the build you are running.
How reliable each workaround is
| Option | Where the advice comes from | Reliability | Reversible? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Update to the latest stable build | Official release notes; the v0.3.4f5 schedule fix was published as a beta patch | Addresses the documented schedule bug in the build it ships with; a current-build fix is not confirmed | Yes, updates can be left in place |
| Sleep until the next day | Steam player reports, April 2025 | Anecdotal; reported as temporary, with mixed results | Yes |
| Save, exit to menu, reload | Steam player reports, April 2025 | Anecdotal; reported as temporary, with mixed results | Yes |
| Remove Mick from a dealer list | Player suggestion; one report says it did not help most affected players | Not stated as a cause or fix | Yes, if the assignment is restored |
| Delete save data | An unverified forum comment | Not supported as a safe or authoritative fix | No. Do not do this |
Save-file deletion is the only option here that cannot be undone, and nothing in the available record makes it a safe remedy. Keep a backup copy of your save folder before trying any change beyond updating and reloading.

Does the problem still occur in current versions?
The available record does not settle this. The developer documented and patched the schedule issue in April 2025, but the later v0.4.3 Steam announcement lists tweaks to Mick’s pawn dialogue and valuation randomization without mentioning the missing-NPC bug. That omission does not mean the bug is fixed, and it does not mean the bug has returned. If you are on the current release and Mick never appears, the honest answer is that the problem may still be open, and a bug report is the most useful next step.
If you are looking for a quick fix, the reliable part is the update. The temporary reloads may help one session, but they are not a substitute for a fix that the developer has confirmed for your build.

The same problem is discussed under several names: “Pawn shop not working,” “Why is there no one at the pawn shop?”, “Why is the pawn shop guy missing?”, and “How do I get Mick back?” A Steam discussion from April 2025 asks, “No one shows up behind counter for pawn shop? Anyone else have this issue?” Those threads describe the same symptom, and the troubleshooting above applies to all of them.
