In a 2015 Q&A reported by PlayStation Universe, Cage answered: “No, there is no plan at the moment for a sequel to Beyond: Two Souls.” The important qualification is “at the moment”: it described the plans he discussed in 2015, not the studio’s position today.

Why didn’t Quantic Dream make a direct follow-up?
The public explanation points to the studio’s creative priorities. The 2015 report said Cage was more interested in pursuing new ideas and experiences than returning to earlier work. Earlier reporting by GameSpot described Quantic Dream’s broader concern that sequels can suppress innovation.
That rationale helps explain why the studio did not announce a direct continuation, but it is not a full account of internal business, scheduling, or licensing decisions. The available statements do not identify one definitive cause beyond the stated creative preference.

Does the game’s success make a sequel more likely?
Quantic Dream says Beyond: Two Souls, released in October 2013, passed five million worldwide sales in 2020 and eight million in 2023 across PS4 and PC, according to its official history. Those milestones show that the game found a substantial audience. They do not establish that a sequel was planned, or explain why one was not announced.
Has Quantic Dream announced a sequel since then?
No announcement appears in the official update published by Quantic Dream on 16 October 2025. The studio described work on multiple games, including a competitive multiplayer experience, but did not mention a Beyond sequel. That silence is not evidence that a sequel is being considered—or that it has been permanently cancelled. The studio’s news page is the place to check for future official announcements.
Quantic Dream’s game catalog continues to list the original Beyond: Two Souls. Its history and game materials identify the original as available on PS4 and PC; current retailer and platform availability can change.

Heavy Rain and Detroit: Become Human are other Quantic Dream games, not established continuations of Beyond: Two Souls. The studio’s catalog does not identify either as a sequel. There are no confirmed sequel options to compare.
