Midnight Society announced on June 24, 2024, that it was immediately ending its relationship with co-founder Guy Beahm, known online as Dr Disrespect. The decision followed renewed allegations about the messages behind his 2020 Twitch ban. Beahm later acknowledged exchanging Twitch Whisper messages with a minor in 2017, while disputing others’ characterization of the conversations and denying illegal conduct. Those are distinct accounts: the studio described its decision, former Twitch employees and news reports described allegations, and Beahm gave his own response.
What Midnight Society announced
In its June 24, 2024 statement, Midnight Society said it had learned of an allegation the previous Friday, initially assumed Beahm’s innocence, and began speaking with parties involved. It then said that, to maintain its principles and standards, it needed to act and was terminating its relationship with him immediately. The studio also cited its responsibility to its 55 developers and their families. Game Informer quoted the statement.
The announcement was an employment and studio decision, not a public finding that Beahm had committed a crime. Midnight Society’s formal statement did not specify the allegation’s full contents or publish supporting records.
What led to the decision
The 2020 Twitch ban
Twitch banned Beahm on June 26, 2020. At the time, Twitch did not publicly explain the specific reason. Its general statement, reproduced by Game Informer, said the platform takes action when it has evidence that a streamer violated its Community Guidelines or Terms of Service; that statement did not explain Beahm’s individual case.

Renewed allegations in June 2024
Between June 21 and 23, 2024, former Twitch account director Cody Conners publicly alleged that Beahm’s ban followed messages with a minor through Twitch’s then-existing Whispers feature and that Beahm had tried to arrange a meeting at TwitchCon. The claims were also reported with attribution to people familiar with the matter. They remain allegations in the available reporting: the underlying Twitch records are not reproduced in the cited coverage. The Washington Post and Game Developer covered the renewed claims and studio response.
What Beahm acknowledged and disputed
On June 25, 2024, Beahm acknowledged that he had exchanged Twitch Whisper messages with a minor in 2017. He described them as casual, mutual conversations that sometimes leaned too far toward inappropriate, denied having real intentions or engaging in illegal conduct, and said he never met the individual. Those descriptions and denials are Beahm’s account; the reporting does not independently establish every detail of it. PC Gamer reproduced portions of his post.

Beahm also said his civil dispute with Twitch had been settled. In 2022, he had stated that the settlement wording was “No party admits to any wrongdoing.” That language does not prove or disprove the allegations. The full settlement terms and Twitch’s underlying evidence are not publicly established in the cited reports. The exact age, complete message contents, and any complete account of Twitch’s evidentiary record likewise remain undisclosed in those sources.

Midnight Society’s statement was not Robert Bowling’s personal post
Bowling, Midnight Society’s studio head, separately wrote on June 25: “If you inappropriately message a minor. I can not work with you. Period. I promised to only act on facts, and I did.” He explicitly characterized the post as personal, not a statement from his companies, and said it had not gone through legal or public-relations approval. It should not be treated as the studio’s formal explanation. Game Informer
