Why Pikmin Bloom’s Detector Shows Mini-Mart Instead of Roadside

A mini-mart result instead of roadside may reflect map information that differs from your expectation. Here’s what Niantic says—and what the label can’t prove.

If Pikmin Bloom’s Detector shows a mini-mart category when you expected roadside, the most supportable explanation is a mismatch between the game’s map information and your expectation. Niantic says seedling categories are based on map information tied to where the seedling originated, and that this information may not always be current. Its support pages do not identify the map data or the specific cause of any one mini-mart label.

Why can the Detector show a different category?

Niantic says seedling categories are determined from map information associated with a seedling’s place of origin. The Pikmin Bloom Help Center notes that “Map information used for categories may not always be up-to-date.” That makes outdated or unexpected map information a plausible explanation for a mini-mart result where a player expects roadside, but it does not establish what happened at a particular location. Niantic’s category FAQ does not identify the map provider or the precise map feature behind an individual label.

Check Places Nearby before using the Detector

Niantic says the Detector finds seedlings from categories shown in Places Nearby. Check that screen before spending a Detector use: it gives you the game’s indicated nearby categories, though it cannot confirm that a category accurately describes a particular storefront or road. See Niantic’s Detector help page.

What a seedling result does—and does not—tell you

A category result is not proof that the seedling came from the storefront named by the category. Niantic says seedlings can be found around places a player walked and may not always be found at the places visited. The support guidance therefore does not establish that a mini-mart result means the player was at a mini-mart, or that a roadside result would be guaranteed by walking along a road. The FAQ explains the general behavior, not the origin of a specific seedling.

How to read the category icon

For regular seedlings, category-icon completion status is determined separately for each seedling color. The icon indicates collection status under that rule; it does not verify that the underlying map classification is geographically correct. Niantic’s seedling icon guide describes the status display.

What is not established about this specific mismatch

The official guidance explains the general category system, but it does not name the map source, identify the map feature that assigned “mini-mart,” or describe a venue-correction process for this particular case. Without confirmation from Niantic or evidence specific to the location, the reason for an individual mini-mart-versus-roadside result remains unknown.
