Resident Evil Requiem’s end-of-game clear-time display may be shorter than the time you actually spent playing. Numerama reports that it excludes cutscenes, menus, document reading, and game-over moments. That is reporting about the displayed time—not a published, universal timer specification from Capcom—so the exact behavior may vary by circumstances.
Why does the end screen show fewer hours?
The end screen’s figure is a clear-time display, not necessarily a record of every minute your game session occupied. According to Numerama, the display leaves out cutscenes, menus, time spent reading documents, and game-over moments. Those activities still add to the time you spend with the game, even if they do not appear in that end-of-run figure.
Numerama reporter Maxime Claudel gave a personal example: the screen showed “8 hours, 4 minutes and 44 seconds,” while Claudel estimated the broader time spent at roughly 15 hours. That estimate describes one person’s experience; it is not an average or a measurement of how the timer behaves for every player.
Which clock are you comparing?
A difference between the game’s result screen and a platform’s playtime counter is not necessarily a discrepancy in either number. They can represent different clocks:
#1 Best Overall
- Amazon Exclusive - 2 sided poster included in every game!
- Grace Ashcroft, an FBI intelligence analyst who is introverted and easily scared, representing a new type of character for the Resident Evil series. Grace will experience horror from the same perspective as the player as she learns to overcome her fears throughout the course of the story.
- For the first time ever in Resident Evil history, players will be able to freely switch between both first- and third-person perspectives throughout the game.
- An Anniversary to Remember: With March 2026 marking the Resident Evil series’ 30-year anniversary, Resident Evil Requiem marks its own milestone in the franchise.
- Pre-orders for Resident Evil Requiem are now open, with the bonus of Grace’s costume: Apocalypse. Please note that the picture weapon does not come with the costume, but it can be obtained in-game.
- Game clear-time display: the figure shown after finishing a run. Numerama reports that certain activities are excluded, but Capcom has not published a definitive technical specification for every event that stops or advances this individual timer.
- Platform playtime: accumulated time recorded by a platform, such as Steam or a console. That is a separate measure from the game’s end-of-clear display.
- Capcom’s global average completion time: a separate aggregate. Capcom says its official global statistic includes restarts, cutscenes, and pauses. It does not establish how an individual player’s end screen counts time.
Because these clocks have different scopes, they should not be treated as interchangeable measures of a single run. In particular, Capcom’s stated inclusions for its global average do not confirm the precise rules behind the personal clear-time display.

Published playthrough figures are individual accounts, not a dependable benchmark for everyone. A PC Gamer review reported a 10-hour playthrough. That is one reviewer’s experience; it does not prove how the timer works or predict how long another player will take.
