The controversy centered on Roblox inviting TheOfficialTeddy to participate: Roblox later said he should not have been invited, rescinded his invitations to The Hatch and RDC, and reviewed its vetting process. Contemporaneous reporting also named several games whose developers withdrew, but it does not establish a complete list or a single reason for every withdrawal.
What The Hatch was
Roblox described The Hatch as an egg hunt running from July 2 to July 12, 2025. Its event description advertised 100 hidden eggs spread across hundreds of participating experiences; collecting egg sets unlocked virtual avatar items. Those details come from an event description published on Xbox Wire and credited to Roblox copywriter Christofer Oberst, not from an independent count or assessment. Why the event became contentious
On June 20, Roblox acknowledged a problem with inviting TheOfficialTeddy. The company said, “TheOfficiaITeddy should not have been invited; we have rescinded their invitation to The Hatch and RDC and have taken appropriate action in accordance with our policies.” Roblox also said it was re-examining the invitation list against its Community Standards and reviewing its vetting process. This is Roblox’s direct account of its decision and review, rather than a conclusion drawn from coverage of the event. Roblox’s June 20 statement.
Which games were reported to have pulled out?
A June 18 Beebom report named Piggy, DOORS, and Untitled Tag Game among games whose developers had withdrawn from The Hatch. The report also discussed other possible withdrawals and concerns about communication or deadlines, but it did not establish those possibilities as a definitive roster or verify every claim. Accordingly, these three are examples named in contemporaneous reporting—not a complete list of withdrawals.

The report’s existence also does not prove that each developer withdrew for the same reason, or that any particular withdrawal was caused by the controversy around TheOfficialTeddy. The available reporting mixes claims of different certainty and does not establish individual developers’ motives. Read Beebom’s June 18 report.
What Roblox said after its investigation
On June 30, Roblox said it had completed an internal investigation and removed TheOfficialTeddy from the platform, making the experiences he created unplayable. The company said it had asked him to change experiences to address user-abuse concerns and that he complied within the specified timeline. Roblox said its investigation also confirmed a separate outstanding policy violation that could not be rectified. This explanation is Roblox’s account of its enforcement process; it does not establish why each participating game’s developer withdrew. Read Roblox’s June 30 update.

How to interpret the timeline
- June 18: Beebom reported withdrawals, naming Piggy, DOORS, and Untitled Tag Game; the report did not establish a comprehensive list or a common motive.
- June 20: Roblox said TheOfficialTeddy should not have been invited, rescinded his invitations to The Hatch and RDC, and said it would review its invitation list and vetting process.
- July 2–12: The Hatch ran as a virtual egg hunt with avatar rewards.
- June 30: Roblox said it had completed its investigation, removed TheOfficialTeddy, and made his experiences unplayable.
The distinction matters: Roblox’s statements establish what the company said it did and why, while the Beebom article is secondary reporting about developer withdrawals. Neither source supports treating all withdrawals as a coordinated response or assigning every developer the same reason.
