The headline is ambiguous, but the best-supported interpretation is Roblox’s June 16, 2026 global rollout of Roblox Kids and Roblox Select accounts. Some players have voiced concern that age-based game catalogs could cut them off from familiar experiences. Those posts show individual reactions, not how Roblox players overall feel.
What changed in the June 2026 rollout?
Roblox announced that Roblox Kids and Roblox Select accounts became globally available on June 16, 2026. The company describes them as age-based account settings for younger users. Its framework includes age checks, game catalogs tied to age, communication defaults, and parental controls. The settings and access a particular player sees can depend on age, region, and account circumstances.
Roblox says the aim is to align settings and content access with a child’s age and give parents tools to manage their experiences. That is the company’s stated rationale; the announcement does not by itself establish whether the changes achieve that goal. See Roblox’s June 16 launch announcement and its family guidance published May 20 for the company’s explanation.
Why are some players concerned?
The clearest concern in the surfaced reactions is losing access to games that players already know and enjoy. In a June 17 Reddit post, one user wrote, “The game i have been playing for years has been screened out of my age group.” An earlier June 4 post anticipated effects on access to popular games and their player communities.

These are examples of individual reactions, not confirmation that every player in an age group will lose access to a particular game. Nor do the posts establish that games have lost players or that communities have been harmed. They illustrate why age-based catalog limits may feel consequential to players who have built routines or friendships around specific experiences.
The available posts are self-selected, and no representative poll or platform-wide sentiment measure is established here. The scale of frustration is therefore unknown; it would be inaccurate to describe these examples as proof of a Roblox-wide backlash.

What determines a player’s access?
There is no single access outcome that applies to every account. Roblox’s documentation describes a framework in which account age category, game catalog, communication settings, parental controls, region, and account verification or transition circumstances may matter. A concern raised by one Reddit user cannot determine what another player will see.
For a specific account, consult Roblox Support’s current Kids and Select guidance. Use Roblox’s account-specific instructions for the player’s age, location, and current access rather than assuming a post or general summary describes their situation.

What the user figures do—and don’t—show
Roblox reported 132 million daily active users based on Q1 2026 data in a July 1, 2026 newsroom article. That figure indicates platform scale, not how many people support or oppose Kids and Select. The same article’s safety remarks by Chief Safety Officer Matt Kaufman concern Roblox’s reporting tools, not a direct response to this update’s critics, so they should not be read as evidence about player sentiment.
Separately, Roblox’s Terms of Use announcement lists an effective date of November 1, 2026. As of October 8, 2026, that date is still in the future; it is not evidence that those terms changes are already in effect or an explanation for the June rollout.
