That is a reported social-media debate—not evidence that women generally oppose the game or that playing it amounts to cheating.
What the reported “ban” is about
Coverage describes individual creators and commenters objecting to a partner playing GTA 6. One report quotes Anuska Ikra, a 26-year-old legal analyst from Astoria, drawing a line between ordinary play and a partner treating fictional character Lucia as more important than his real-life girlfriend: “If you’re playing it normally, then that’s fine. But if you’re specifically romanticizing and sexualizing [Lucia] so much that you’re treating her better than your actual real life girlfriend, that’s where it gets weird.” Yahoo Tech’s republication of the New York Post report presents her view; it is not an expert finding or a consensus.

A separate report says TikTok creator Shelby Haas would ban her fiancé from buying or playing the game, citing reported relationship features and adult locations. That establishes what the creator was reported to have said, not that those particular mechanics will appear in the finished game. The report on the trend does not independently confirm them.
The sources do not provide a representative survey or verified statistic showing how many women object. Phrases such as “Is Playing GTA 6 Cheating?” and “no way is my fiancé playing this” are examples of online discussion, not evidence of how common the view is.

What Rockstar has confirmed about GTA VI
Rockstar’s official GTA VI page, checked October 5, 2026, lists the game for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a release date of November 19, 2026. Rockstar describes protagonists Jason and Lucia relying on each other after an easy score goes wrong and a criminal conspiracy engulfs the state of Leonida.
The same page lists content descriptors including “Nudity” and “Strong Sexual Content,” as well as blood and gore, intense violence, mature humor, strong language, and use of drugs and alcohol. Those broad descriptors do not specify particular scenes or choices a player can make. The official page cited here also does not confirm mandatory dates, text-message obligations, or a particular romance system.

Is playing GTA 6 cheating?
There is no universal answer established by the reporting. The disagreement can involve different issues: discomfort with fictional romantic or sexual content, how much time a game takes from shared plans, and whether one partner can set limits on another adult’s hobby. Those are distinct conversations, and a couple’s own boundaries matter more than a viral label.
If the concern is the game’s content, partners can discuss what feels uncomfortable and what each person considers acceptable. If it is about time, the practical issue may be whether playing conflicts with an agreement or a shared commitment. A caller anecdote on a September 1, 2026 episode page for Fitzy, Wippa & Kate describes a wedding-anniversary disagreement: “So it’s our wedding anniversary two days before the game comes out and he’s chosen to take time off work so he can play the game rather than go away for our wedding anniversary.” That is one person’s story, not a measure of a broader trend.
