Nintendo has scheduled The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Nintendo Switch 2 on November 5, 2026, but its new Young Link and Young Zelda amiibo are due in 2027. Nintendo says the figures unlock special masks with a retro graphical style; it has not publicly explained why they will arrive after the game.
Why are the Ocarina of Time remake amiibo coming out after the game?
Nintendo’s September 8, 2026 announcement gives the dates—a November 5, 2026 game launch and a 2027 window for the figures—but offers no reason for the gap. That means there is no public explanation from Nintendo, not proof that no internal rationale exists. Claims about production, shipping, stock, or marketing would be speculation.
Nintendo’s official amiibo lineup also lists both figures for 2027, without a specific day or month. It does not provide a retailer roster or preorder date in the listing reviewed.
What do the Ocarina of Time remake amiibo unlock?
Nintendo says the Young Link and Young Zelda amiibo “can be used to unlock special in-game masks that evoke a retro graphical style.” The announcement describes the unlock collectively for the pair; it does not specify different masks or functions for each figure.

Does the existing Ocarina of Time Link amiibo work with the remake?
Nintendo lists a Link (Ocarina of Time) 30th Anniversary amiibo with a December 2, 2016 release date. That listing does not establish compatibility with the remake. Nintendo notes that amiibo compatibility and functionality vary by game, so buyers should not assume the older figure unlocks the new masks or other remake content.

Nintendo also announced a physical game edition whose first print run has textured foil cover art, available while supplies last, plus a playable ocarina and an electric ocarina from HORI that can play notes or whole songs at a button press. These are related announcements, but Nintendo did not connect them to the timing of the Young Link and Young Zelda figures.
