In MTG Arena, searching t:Terminus in the deckbuilder returns both The Soul Stone and The Terminus of Return. Wizards’ June 24, 2026 patch notes document the pairing, while its Through the Omenpaths initiative explains why a digital card can have a different name and creative treatment from its Universes Beyond tabletop counterpart.
What Arena’s reveal actually says
The 2026.60.0 patch notes say a deckbuilder search for t:Terminus returns both The Soul Stone and The Terminus of Return. That is the direct, official connection between the two names. The notes also describe searches for Marvel’s Spider-Man cards and Through the Omenpaths cards surfacing equivalent cards in the set. 2026.60.0 MTG Arena patch notes.
Why the digital card has another name
Wizards describes Through the Omenpaths as digital Universes Within versions of some Universes Beyond sets that otherwise would not come to Arena or Magic Online. The digital counterparts keep the tabletop cards’ mechanics but receive different creative treatments, art, and names. In its April 21, 2025 announcement, Wizards’ Blake Rasmussen put it this way: “These digital cards will be mechanically identical to their Universes Beyond tabletop counterparts but with unique creative treatments, different art, and different names.” Wizards’ Through the Omenpaths announcement.
That framework explains why The Soul Stone can be represented by a differently named digital counterpart, The Terminus of Return. It is a naming and presentation distinction, not evidence in these notes of a change to the card’s mechanics.

How to find the card—and what the names mean
- Open Arena’s deckbuilder and search for
t:Terminus. - Look for both The Soul Stone and The Terminus of Return among the results, as specified in the 2026.60.0 patch notes.
The same patch notes distinguish OM1 card styles from SPM printings. They also say searches for Marvel’s Spider-Man or Through the Omenpaths cards can bring up equivalent cards in the set. That means a card’s displayed name, its printing, and its card style are related but distinct parts of Arena’s presentation; the notes do not say that the two names are interchangeable in every interface or context.
The tabletop Soul Stone is a separate printing
Wizards’ official Marvel’s Spider-Man card list includes The Soul Stone, along with a cosmic foil Infinity Stone treatment and a borderless gauntlet version called The Soul Stone (Combined). Those are tabletop card treatments listed for the Spider-Man set; they should not be confused with Arena’s digital name or the OM1 card-style designation. See the official Marvel’s Spider-Man card list.

Is this the first renamed Universes Beyond counterpart?
The headline’s “first” framing is not established by the official sources cited here. The 2026.60.0 notes establish this specific Soul Stone–Terminus of Return search pairing, and Wizards’ 2025 announcement establishes the broader practice of using different names for certain digital Universes Within counterparts. Neither source makes a historical claim that this is the first such renamed Arena counterpart across all Universes Beyond releases.

Wizards announced Through the Omenpaths on April 21, 2025 as its digital Universes Within approach for Universes Beyond sets that would otherwise not reach Arena or Magic Online. Arena’s September 16, 2025 patch notes announced Through the Omenpaths availability and explained that importing or searching Universes Beyond names could surface or switch to the equivalent Through the Omenpaths card. The notes identify September 23, 2025 as the availability date. The June 24, 2026 notes then made the Soul Stone pairing explicit in a deckbuilder search.
