Warzone’s console FoV-slider debate and its reported 120 FPS support are separate stories from different years. In 2022, Call of Duty staff acknowledged the demand for a console FoV slider but said performance on older-generation consoles was the reason they did not plan to add one “at this time.” The 120 FPS news, by contrast, was historical reporting about PS5 support alongside the June 2021 Season Four update—not confirmation of what every current Warzone build or platform supports.
Why console players ask for an FoV slider
Field of view (FoV) controls how much of the game world appears across the screen. Players asking for an “FOV slider on console” want to adjust that view rather than use a single fixed setting. Search-result phrasing also includes requests for an “FOV slider for Xbox Series X and PS5”; those examples show the shape of the request, not proof about the feature’s availability in every later game version.
In a 2022 community briefing, Call of Duty Staff directly recognized the request and explained the concern: “Adding FOV on console in Warzone creates major performance impacts for old gen console players.” The briefing continued: “Our goal is for Warzone to be a performant experience on all platforms, so we do not plan to implement an FOV Slider on console at this time.” Read the Call of Duty Staff community briefing.
The qualification matters: the statement described the team’s plan in 2022, and its wording was explicitly “at this time.” It identifies older-generation console performance as the stated concern; it does not establish a permanent policy or demonstrate identical performance limits on every console generation.

What the 120 FPS report actually covered
The 120 FPS item in this story is a separate, historical development. GameSpot reported PS5 support in connection with Warzone’s Season Four update in June 2021. That report is not evidence that all current Warzone versions, consoles, or display setups offer 120 FPS. Read GameSpot’s 2021 report.
GameSpot also reported that using the PS5 at a 120 Hz refresh rate required HDMI 2.1. Treat that as setup context for the historical report, not a complete guide to current compatibility: the exact console, game version, display input, and supported output mode all matter. A 120 Hz television or monitor alone does not make a game run at 120 FPS.

Why 120 FPS does not settle the FoV question
Frame rate and FoV are distinct settings and questions. The historical 120 FPS report concerns a PS5 performance mode and a compatible high-refresh display path; the 2022 briefing concerns the performance impact staff associated with adding an FoV slider, particularly for older-generation consoles. One does not establish that the other is available, resolved, or technically equivalent.
It would therefore be inaccurate to treat the PS5 report as proof that a higher frame rate makes a console FoV slider feasible, or to infer that the older-console concern applies identically to all newer hardware. The cited material does not quantify frame-rate loss from an FoV slider or establish a current feature policy.

How to check current platform support
Warzone has continued to receive official support material and patch notes, but the available index pages do not themselves verify present-day 120 FPS availability or FoV settings for a particular platform and build. Check current platform-specific documentation before relying on either feature:
- Activision Support’s Warzone index for current support information.
- The official Call of Duty patch-note index for release notes and changes.
For a high-refresh setup, confirm the current game’s supported mode for your exact console, the display’s refresh-rate support, and the connection required by that console and display. The 2021 PS5 report is useful historical context, not a substitute for those current checks.
