A WNBA League Pass blackout usually means another broadcaster has exclusive live rights to that game in your market—not that the app is broken. Check the game’s current listing and your market’s restrictions, then watch through the authorized broadcaster; League Pass replays become available on different schedules depending on the blackout type.
Why a WNBA game is blacked out
The WNBA says local and national content providers hold exclusive rights to televise certain games live. League Pass is therefore not a guarantee that every game will stream live in every location. Which games are unavailable depends on the country, the viewer’s market, the game, and the viewer’s current location. The WNBA uses an IP address or, if enabled, device location services to determine location. The WNBA’s blackout guidance was updated August 12, 2026, and says its distributor list may change.
Which games may be restricted
United States: national broadcasts
The WNBA’s August 12, 2026 guidance lists live national telecasts on ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, Disney+, CBS, Paramount+, NBC, Peacock, USA Network, and Amazon Prime Video as unavailable on League Pass in the United States. Because the list can be updated, check the current schedule for the game rather than relying on an old channel list.
United States: local broadcasts
Games televised locally for the viewer’s WNBA team or teams are also unavailable live on League Pass. The WNBA says the market is determined using the device’s IP address or enabled location services; its US zip-code lookup identifies which teams’ local games are blacked out.

Canada
The WNBA lists national telecasts on TSN, SN, CTV, and CTV2 as unavailable live on League Pass in Canada. A US zip-code check does not establish Canadian availability: use the Canadian game listing and broadcaster information.
Selected league events
The same WNBA guidance says the All-Star Friday Night event, All-Star Game, and Commissioner’s Cup championship game are not available live on League Pass in the US or Canada, but become available on demand after they conclude. Check current event listings because rights and availability can change.

How to find the authorized live stream
- Identify the game. Note its date, teams, and the country where you are watching. A blackout message tied to rights is different from a playback error affecting the app, account, or network.
- Check the current WNBA schedule. Look up the game’s listed broadcaster for your market. In the US, use the zip-code lookup on the WNBA League Pass page to check local blackout information before subscribing or switching services.
- Watch through the broadcaster named for that game. Depending on the listing, that may be a local broadcast station, regional sports network, or national distributor. A service carrying one game is not necessarily a source for every WNBA game.
- If the game has ended, check League Pass for its replay. Replay timing depends on the restriction, as described below.
When a blacked-out game’s replay is available
| Blackout type | League Pass availability stated by the WNBA |
|---|---|
| US national telecast | Available at 6 a.m. ET the following day. |
| US locally televised game | Available shortly after the game ends. |
| Canada national-provider telecast | Available shortly after the game ends. |
| Selected All-Star and Commissioner’s Cup events in the US or Canada | Available on demand after the event concludes. |
These timings come from the WNBA’s blackout guidance; check it and the game listing for current information.
If the blackout result seems wrong
First confirm that you have the correct game and date, then compare the result with the WNBA schedule and, in the US, the League Pass zip-code lookup. If the result appears inconsistent with your location, check that device location services are set appropriately and that your internet connection reports your current location. These checks can help explain how the market was identified, but they do not remove a valid rights restriction.

Why a VPN is not a fix
Changing or disguising your location does not change the broadcaster’s rights. The WNBA subscriber agreement prohibits attempting to circumvent restrictions and warns of possible immediate termination, a $100 early-termination charge, and legal action. Use the listed broadcaster or wait for the authorized replay instead. Read the WNBA subscriber agreement for its terms.

The League Pass page displayed $39.99 per year when accessed October 4, 2026; price and availability can change, so confirm the current offer directly with the WNBA. More importantly, check the specific games you want using the schedule and, in the US, the zip-code lookup. The WNBA app help page says League Pass purchases are available on the web, in the mobile app, Apple TV, Android TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Roku. A supported device lets you watch the app on that device; it does not lift a blackout. See the WNBA device and purchase guidance, updated March 23, 2026.
