Start by noting the exact error and where it appears, then check Rockstar’s live service status and follow the matching fix.
First, identify where sign-in is failing
The right fix depends on whether you are signing in on Rockstar’s website, in the Rockstar Games Launcher on PC, or inside a particular game on PC or console. Record the full error message or code, the game and platform, and whether other Rockstar sign-in routes still work. That helps distinguish an account problem from a game-specific or network problem.
Check whether Rockstar services are available
Open Rockstar’s Service Status page and check the relevant game or platform, plus Online Services, Authentication, and Launcher where shown. If the affected service is down or undergoing maintenance, local password changes are unlikely to solve the problem; try again when the status changes. The status can change, so check it while troubleshooting rather than relying on an old report.
If the error points to your account or password
Reset the password and confirm the account email
Carefully re-enter the email address and password, checking for typos and unintended spaces. If you may have forgotten the password, use Rockstar’s password-reset page and check the inbox’s spam or junk folder for the reset message.

If you are unsure which email is linked, search the inboxes you may have used—including spam and junk—for older messages from an address ending in @rockstargames.com. You can also try likely email addresses in the reset flow; an address that receives Rockstar’s reset message is a useful clue.
If you can no longer access the linked email
Try to recover that email account through its provider first. Rockstar’s account-reversion option is constrained and is not guaranteed to restore access or change the linked address; support may require evidence that meets its requirements. If the inaccessible email is specifically the one used for two-step verification, submit a support ticket rather than trying to bypass account security.

If two-step verification rejects your code
Enter a fresh code from the authenticator currently linked to the account. Codes expire, and an incorrect device time can make an otherwise valid code fail; enable automatic date and time on the phone or device running the authenticator, then try again. If you changed phones or lost the authenticator, use the account’s available recovery or transfer process, or contact Rockstar Support if you cannot complete it.
If the error is about a connection or authentication
Rule out basic network and browser issues
- Confirm that other sites or online services load on the same connection.
- If signing in on the website, try another browser or device.
- If you use a VPN or proxy, turn it off temporarily to test whether it is interfering with sign-in. Restore your normal setup after the test if it makes no difference.
- If the problem occurs on Wi-Fi in the PC Launcher, Rockstar suggests testing a wired connection where available.
Rockstar identifies error 1.000.7 as a connectivity problem in its error guidance, last updated June 1, 2026. The code does not by itself establish whether the cause is your connection or a Rockstar-side issue, so check service status as well.

Match Launcher codes to their official fixes
Error 6000.80 means the Rockstar Games Launcher cannot communicate with Rockstar services, according to Rockstar’s support article, last updated September 18, 2025. Error 6000.87 also points to a network connection issue between the PC and Rockstar services. If services are available, follow Rockstar’s 6000.87 guidance, also last updated September 18, 2025, which includes refreshing the Launcher’s local profile. That refresh does not delete your Rockstar account or saved games, but it does require you to sign in again.
Reserve network changes for persistent network symptoms
If ordinary checks do not help and the problem appears limited to the PC’s network path, Rockstar’s Launcher Connection Troubleshooting article, last updated February 17, 2026, suggests options such as restarting the router, changing DNS settings, or checking whether the following UDP ports are available: 6672, 61455, 61456, 61457, and 61458. These are advanced, network-specific steps—not routine account fixes. If you change router or DNS settings, note the original values so you can restore them.

The same Rockstar article recommends a download target of 7.5 Mbps, upload of 1 Mbps, and a minimum upload speed of 0.5 Mbps. These are Rockstar’s connection guidelines, not a guarantee that a connection meeting them will resolve a sign-in error.

For “Could not create a sign in token,” Rockstar says antivirus conflicts are the most common cause in its support article, last updated May 2, 2024. Do not leave antivirus or firewall protection disabled. If you use an official temporary diagnostic step to test a conflict, restore protection immediately; where appropriate, prefer a narrow exception for the Launcher over disabling protection broadly.

If the Launcher reports a Library Service or file-permission problem, follow Rockstar’s Library Service troubleshooting guidance. It covers connectivity and file permissions and provides a clean reinstall path. Use that more disruptive option only after simpler checks, and follow the article’s current steps for your Launcher version.
If only an older Rockstar game rejects the password
A password can work on the website or in GTAV but fail in certain older titles because those games do not accept every special character. Rockstar lists Max Payne 3, L.A. Noire, Red Dead Redemption, mobile titles, and Grand Theft Auto IV in its special-character compatibility guidance, last updated May 26, 2026. If the failure is limited to one of those legacy sign-in routes, check that article before concluding the account password is generally invalid. This compatibility issue should not be assumed to affect current games or every way of signing in.
Choose the next step by symptom
