When WickedWhims does not appear in The Sims 4, the usual causes are a misplaced or incomplete installation, mod permissions that are switched off, a game update that has disabled mods, or an outdated or duplicate copy. You can identify which one applies from inside the game in a few minutes, before you reinstall anything.
Confirm whether the game has loaded WickedWhims
The fastest test is the game’s own list of installed content. Go to Options > Game Options > Other and select View Custom Content. The WickedWhims creator, TURBODRIVER, says the list should show TURBODRIVER_WickedWhims_Tuning under Custom Content and TURBODRIVER_WickedWhims_Scripts under Script Mods. The creator’s common-mistakes guidance states that if either entry is missing, the WickedWhims installation is wrong. That points you to the folder and settings checks below rather than to a general reinstall.

Fix the installation in this order
- Check the folder structure. The creator’s installation instructions place the
WickedWhimsModfolder directly insideDocuments > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > Mods, with its PACKAGE and TS4SCRIPT files inside it. The common-mistakes page warns that files sitting two folders deep or more will not load. If you downloaded a zip archive, extract it first and move the resulting folder into Mods. Do not leave the archive itself in that folder, and confirm the expected files are present after extraction. - Turn the mod settings on and restart. In Game Options > Other, enable Enable Custom Content and Mods and Script Mods Allowed, select Apply Changes, then fully close and relaunch The Sims 4. The creator states that enabling mods requires a restart, so a change made without relaunching has not yet taken effect. Return to View Custom Content and confirm both WickedWhims entries now appear.
- Check for a recent game update before re-enabling anything. Electronic Arts says it disables mods when it updates the game in order to limit gameplay problems. If WickedWhims stopped working after a patch, check the creator’s download page for a compatible or updated version. Do not assume an older copy is compatible just because it worked before the update.
- Remove old and duplicate copies, then add mods back in batches if problems persist. The creator advises deleting outdated WickedWhims files before installing a current version, and searching the Mods folder for duplicates. If WickedWhims is detected but gameplay problems continue with other mods installed, Electronic Arts recommends adding mods back in batches and narrowing down the batch that brings the problem back.

Check the mod version against your game version
The creator’s download page, checked on October 8, 2026, listed WickedWhims version v185k, dated May 23, 2026. Its list of supported game versions included Sims 4 1.128.90, shown on the page with the date September 22. Compare the version in your game’s main menu with that list. A game build that does not appear there should be treated as unconfirmed rather than assumed to work. The same page names WonderfulWhims as a conflicting mod and says no additional mods are required for the features it offers. These are snapshot figures from one page on one date, so check the live page before drawing conclusions.
Platform limits
Electronic Arts states that Sims 4 mods are available on PC and Mac and cannot be downloaded on PlayStation or Xbox. If you play on console, none of the installation steps above apply. Electronic Arts also says it does not pre-screen, endorse, or support specific mods, and recommends downloading only from trusted creators or sources.

If it still does not load
After you have removed old files and confirmed the folder structure and settings, install the current version from the creator’s download page, restart the game, and recheck View Custom Content. If both entries still do not appear with the files in the correct location, the remaining variable is the installation itself, so repeat the folder and extraction check on the new copy before trying anything else.
