If WickedWhims is missing, inactive, or causing errors in The Sims 4, check its folder placement and mod settings first. Then verify that your version is compatible with the current game patch and test for conflicts with other mods. No single cause explains every failure, so work through these checks in order.
1. Check the mod’s location and folder depth
Open Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > Mods. The WickedWhimsMod folder should sit directly inside Mods, with the mod’s package and TS4SCRIPT files inside it. Avoid placing the folder inside several additional folders: if the game cannot find the files, WickedWhims may not load.

2. Make sure both mod settings are enabled
In The Sims 4, open Game Options > Other and enable both Enable Custom Content and Mods and Script Mods Allowed. Apply the changes, then fully close and restart the game. WickedWhims needs its script component to be allowed as well as custom content.

Game patches can switch these settings off. If the mod stops appearing after an update, check them again before reinstalling anything. EA’s guide to mods, game updates, and error codes explains why updates can affect mods and their settings.
3. Check whether the game detects both parts
When The Sims 4 starts, check its mod listings for WickedWhims’ tuning entry under Custom Content and its scripts entry under Script Mods. If one or both are missing, return to the folder and settings checks: the files may be absent, nested too deeply, or script mods may not be enabled. 4. Verify compatibility with your game patch
A mod that worked before a game update may stop working afterward. The creator may need to release an update, and repeatedly reinstalling an unchanged version will not resolve a compatibility mismatch.
- Note your installed game version.
- Open the official WickedWhims download page and check the current compatibility information.
- Use a release that supports your game version. If the page does not confirm compatibility, wait for the creator’s guidance rather than assuming the latest file supports your patch.
The supported game build can change, so check the live download page rather than relying on a version number from an older guide.

5. Test for conflicts with other mods
Another mod may affect WickedWhims or the game. To isolate that possibility, test with only WickedWhims installed; removing WickedWhims while leaving the rest of your mod collection in place does not test whether another mod conflicts with it.
- Move the other mods out of the Mods folder temporarily, leaving WickedWhims installed.
- Start the game and check whether the original problem still occurs.
- If it no longer occurs, restore other mods in small groups or one at a time, testing after each addition until the issue returns.
If the problem returns after adding a mod, test again with that mod present and absent before treating it as the culprit. The creator’s mod reliability guidance discusses how other mods can affect the game.

6. Gather useful details if the problem persists
When asking the creator for support, include your game version and the relevant error information. An error file may list unrelated entries, so do not assume that every item in a log caused the problem. The WickedWhims support information explains what details to provide.
