A FiveM server that does not appear in the public list is usually failing registration for one of three reasons: port 30120 is not reachable over both TCP and UDP, the Cfx.re license key is missing or invalid, or sv_master1 has been uncommented and the server is being advertised as private. Test those causes in that order, then investigate query errors, slot limits, filters and software age.
Start with the three most likely causes
Do not begin by reinstalling resources or changing gameplay settings. Server-list registration depends first on an address that the master service can reach, a valid license identity, and a configuration that permits public listing. The table below maps the common symptom to the first check that can confirm or eliminate it.

1. Test the server from outside your network
A test made on the same computer that hosts FiveM does not prove public reachability. Local traffic can succeed without ever crossing your router, host firewall or virtual-server provider’s edge firewall. Use a phone on mobile data, a computer at another location, or another connection that is not on the hosting LAN.
Open the information endpoint
- Find the public IPv4 address assigned to the server or its router.
- From the separate network, open
http://198.51.100.24:30120/info.json, replacing the documentation address with the server’s real public address. - Confirm that the page returns JSON rather than timing out or refusing the connection.
A response proves that an HTTP request reached the FiveM endpoint on TCP 30120. A timeout, connection refusal or unreachable-host error means you should fix networking before changing listing variables. If the page works externally but the server is still absent, continue with the license and configuration checks: reachability alone does not guarantee registration.

Check the address you are testing
Home-hosted servers normally receive an internal address such as 192.168.x.x from the router, while players must connect through the router’s public address. Forwarding to the wrong internal machine produces the same symptom as a closed port. On a virtual private server, there is no home router to configure, but the provider’s network firewall can still block the port.
2. Open port 30120 for both TCP and UDP
FiveM listing and connection traffic requires port 30120 to be reachable over TCP and UDP. A rule for only one protocol is incomplete; some hosts and operating systems require separate entries.
Home-hosted server
- Give the server computer a stable internal address, or reserve its address in the router’s DHCP settings.
- In the router’s port-forwarding page, create a rule that forwards external port
30120to internal port30120on that computer for TCP. - Create a second rule with the same port mapping for UDP.
- Save the router configuration and restart the forwarding service if the router requests it.
- Repeat the external
info.jsontest. Testing from inside the same LAN can give a misleading result on routers that do not support loopback.
Windows firewall
Windows Defender Firewall can block traffic even when the router is forwarding correctly. Create inbound rules for FiveM’s server process, or explicit inbound rules for local port 30120, with one rule for TCP and another for UDP. Apply them to the network profiles the machine actually uses. After saving, test again from mobile data or another outside connection; a local browser test is not sufficient.
Virtual private server or dedicated host
Check the provider’s security-group, cloud-firewall or edge-firewall panel and allow inbound TCP 30120 and UDP 30120. The operating-system firewall and the provider firewall are separate layers, so both must permit the traffic. If the host offers a port-allocation panel, verify that 30120 is assigned to the instance running FiveM.

What a failed port test tells you
- Both protocols fail: look for a wrong public address, missing router forwarding, a provider firewall block or a stopped server process.
- TCP responds but players or listing queries still fail: verify that UDP 30120 has its own forwarding and firewall rule.
- The endpoint works only on the host machine: the service is listening locally, but the route from the Internet is blocked or points to the wrong machine.
3. Validate the Cfx.re license key
The active server configuration needs a valid sv_licenseKey. A missing, expired or reused key is a common reason a running process never becomes a public listing. Keys are issued through the Cfx.re keymaster portal.
Use the key assigned to this instance
- Open the configuration file that the launch command actually loads; editing an unused example file will have no effect.
- Confirm that the
sv_licenseKeyentry contains the complete key and is not commented out. - Check the server console during startup for license validation or authentication errors.
- Run one license key per running server instance. Do not copy the same key into multiple active configurations.
- Restart the server after correcting the entry and watch for a clean registration attempt.
Keep the key private. If it has been exposed in a public repository, screenshot or log, replace or revoke it through the keymaster account before trying again. A server can appear healthy in its local console while registration is rejected because the credential is invalid.

Open the server configuration and search for sv_master1. It should remain commented out, for example:
# sv_master1 ""When this line is uncommented, Cfx.re’s support guidance says the server is treated as private. That can make it appear missing from the normal public list and remove the Connect button. Comment the line rather than deleting unrelated configuration, restart the instance, and check the list again after registration has had time to complete.

5. Investigate master-server query errors
If the console reports that master-server queries or registration requests are failing, the service may not know which public address to use. One community guide reports that setting sv_listingIPOverride to the server’s public IP and port resolves query errors in most cases. This is a secondary, single-source recommendation, so treat it as a targeted troubleshooting step rather than a universal requirement.
In the configuration, the setting would look like this, using the actual public address in place of the documentation address:
set sv_listingIPOverride "198.51.100.24:30120"Do not enter a private LAN address such as 192.168.1.20; the listing service needs the externally routable address. Restart the server and inspect the next registration attempt. If the error persists, remove the override if it was not needed and return to the external port test, because an override cannot repair a blocked port.
txAdmin’s separate port
Some guides also suggest opening TCP 40120 for txAdmin when diagnosing management or query problems. That port is separate from the public FiveM game/listing port 30120. Opening 40120 will not substitute for TCP and UDP 30120, and the recommendation to use it for listing errors is based on a single secondary source. Expose it only when your txAdmin installation requires remote access, and protect it with the access controls recommended for your host.

6. Check the configured player limit
A secondary guide states that more than 48 slots may require a paid Cfx.re tier and recommends setting sv_maxclients to 48 or lower when that entitlement is not present. The exact tier wording and current limits were not independently confirmed, so verify the present policy in your Cfx.re account before purchasing anything.
As a diagnostic, temporarily set the value to 48 or below, restart the server, and see whether registration succeeds. This isolates a possible entitlement problem without changing network rules. Do not advertise a slot count that your license or plan does not permit.

The server browser can hide a valid listing when filters are too narrow. Clear region, language, tags, category, player-count and keyword filters, then search by the exact server name. Also check the Favorites and History views separately; a server may not appear in a filtered global result even though it is reachable directly.
One guide reports that a newly started server can take as long as eight minutes to appear. That timing is not an official guarantee and varies with registration and browser refresh behavior. After each configuration change, wait several minutes, refresh the browser, and avoid drawing a conclusion from an immediate reload. The external info.json test remains the better way to tell whether the server is reachable while you wait.

8. Confirm that the server artifact is current
Outdated FiveM server builds can fail to register correctly. Search the startup output for update or artifact errors and compare the installed build with the current release guidance from Cfx.re. The claim that the master service categorically rejects all old artifacts is not clearly attributed or verified, so treat software age as a later possibility, not the first explanation for a missing listing.

If a newer artifact introduces a resource compatibility problem, you can restore the known-good build while you isolate that separate issue. Updating should not replace the port, license and sv_master1 checks; those remain the primary causes identified for this symptom.
Settings that are often blamed incorrectly
sv_endpointprivacy
One guide says sv_endpointprivacy hides connection details rather than hiding the server itself. That explanation has not been confirmed against Cfx.re’s official documentation. A completely missing listing should therefore be investigated through registration errors, port reachability and the license key instead of assuming this setting is responsible. Change it only when you understand the privacy effect you want and can observe a corresponding console or listing change.
Resources, scripts and map content
Gameplay resources can crash after a server starts, but they do not explain a closed 30120 port or an invalid license. First establish that the base server registers with a minimal, backed-up configuration. Only after the listing appears should you reintroduce optional resources one at a time if a separate startup failure remains.
A complete troubleshooting sequence
Use this order so each test answers one question and later changes do not obscure the original fault.

- Stop any duplicate FiveM instances so only the intended server uses the configuration and license.
- From an outside network, open the server’s
info.jsonendpoint on port 30120. - If it fails, correct router forwarding, Windows firewall rules or the provider firewall for both TCP and UDP, then repeat the test.
- Confirm that the running configuration contains a valid, unshared
sv_licenseKey. - Ensure
sv_master1is commented out. - Read the startup and registration output for master-server query errors.
- If such errors continue, test the documented
sv_listingIPOverrideformat with the real public address and port. - Temporarily keep
sv_maxclientsat 48 or lower while you verify the current slot entitlement. - Clear browser filters, search by name, refresh after several minutes, and allow for registration delay.
- Only then investigate artifact age, privacy settings or individual resources.
When the server is still absent
Record the exact external URL result, public address, protocol rules, startup timestamp, license-validation message and any master-server query error. This evidence distinguishes a network failure from a registration failure and makes a support request actionable. Do not publish the license key in that report. If info.json is reachable externally, the key is valid, sv_master1 is commented and no query error remains, the remaining suspects are usually browser filtering, a temporary registration delay, an entitlement mismatch or an outdated artifact. Recheck each with a fresh restart rather than changing several variables at once.
The Bottom Line
Make port 30120 reachable on both TCP and UDP, use a valid license key only once, and leave sv_master1 commented out. Those three checks resolve the majority of missing FiveM server-list cases; query overrides, slot limits, filters and artifact updates come afterward.
