An NFL game missing from your stream usually comes down to one of two things: the game is outside your package’s broadcast rights, or the service has not verified your current location correctly. Check the game and your plan first; changing location settings will not make an excluded game available.
Why is my NFL game blacked out?
“Blacked out” can describe a game that your subscription does not carry, or a location error that prevents a service from showing a game you should be able to watch. Sunday Ticket is not an all-games pass. Its standalone package excludes locally televised and nationally broadcast games, preseason and postseason games, and some select or digital-exclusive games. Your current playback location helps determine whether a game is local or out of market, so the same subscription can offer different games in different areas.
Which games does your YouTube package include?
The main YouTube TV plan and standalone Sunday Ticket provide different game coverage. YouTube TV carries local and national broadcasts available through its channel lineup; Sunday Ticket adds out-of-market Sunday afternoon regular-season games. How to diagnose and fix the problem
- Look up the exact matchup. Check the current official game listing for the date and broadcast, including the local CBS or FOX schedule. Listings can change, so use the current schedule for your market. [YouTube Help: NFL games available with NFL Sunday Ticket]
- Check which package you have. Confirm whether you have standalone Sunday Ticket, Sunday Ticket as a YouTube TV add-on, or only the YouTube TV main plan. Their game coverage differs. [YouTube Help]
- If the game is local or national, use its broadcast provider. Look for it in the local or national channels available through your YouTube TV lineup, or another service carrying that broadcast. Sunday Ticket alone is not the fix for a game it excludes. [YouTube TV Help]
- If Sunday Ticket should carry the game, check your playback area. In YouTube TV, open your profile and location settings and update Current playback area; allow location access if prompted. - For casting or TV location errors, verify with the same account. Sign in to the same account on your mobile device and TV, allow location access in the mobile browser, and follow the on-screen steps or go to youtube.com/locate. Reopen the app and retry. - If it is still unavailable, contact the streaming provider. Give support the matchup, device, current location, package, and exact error message. Those details help distinguish a rights restriction from a location-detection issue.
What not to do
Do not buy another subscription until you have checked the game’s broadcaster and your package. A location fix cannot override a package exclusion, and a broader plan may not carry the game in your market. A VPN is not a reliable answer to a rights restriction, and YouTube’s reviewed location-help guidance does not present it as an authorized fix.
Check the current listing before game day
Availability is specific to the matchup and your location, and weekly listings can change. YouTube’s official help material for the 2026 season includes a sample local-game listing for September 13, 2026; use the current listing rather than assuming that a prior week’s availability applies to the next game.
