The Wildgate release date and Open Beta dates in the 2025 announcement are no longer upcoming. The Open Beta ran June 9–16, 2025, and the launch was set for July 22, 2025. As of October 2026, the beta has ended, and a June 2026 developer update says the game remains available for purchase while sustained development has stopped.
Key dates, then and now
Dreamhaven announced the launch date and beta window on June 6, 2025. Anyone reading an older post that says the beta is “starting next week” is looking at a schedule that has already passed.

What the 2025 beta offered
Dreamhaven described the Open Beta as cross-platform. It added two new playable Prospectors, along with new missions and areas. The beta was meant to give players a preview of the game before the full release, not a separate free-to-play version.
How beta access worked
The official Wildgate FAQ on Steam said no key or separate signup was required on supported platforms. Players simply launched the game during the beta window. Cross-play was supported, so players on different platforms could play together.

Cross-progression was a different matter. To carry progress between platforms, players had to link their platform accounts to a Dreamhaven account. The FAQ described this as a beta-period requirement. Do not assume it applies unchanged to every later version of the game.
Beta progress and the Pixel Venture spray
The FAQ said beta progress was not planned to carry over into the live game. Players who logged in during the beta would unlock the “Pixel Venture” spray, to be delivered later. These were terms for the beta period, not an offer that still applies.

What Wildgate is
Moonshot Games describes Wildgate as a PvP multiplayer shooter that combines ship-to-ship combat with fast-paced first-person action. The FAQ called it a premium game at launch. Controller support on PC is confirmed, but the FAQ does not single out a controller as required or recommended.
What the June 2026 developer update says
The most important recent development is a June 2026 update posted to the Wildgate news feed on Steam. The developer wrote: “Wildgate hasn’t found a large enough audience to sustain ongoing development.” The post is signed “Dustin,” and it is attributed here to the Wildgate team, since the excerpt does not give a job title.

According to the update, the game will stay on sale. The developer plans occasional bug fixes, balance updates, and small events. Server monitoring will be handled by a small core team, and player support will be reduced. The update does not give a player count or other audience figure, so none is offered here.
For players, the practical reading is that Wildgate is still purchasable, but it is no longer in active development. Expect fewer updates and less direct support than the 2025 launch period offered.

Why the old wording still circulates
The June 2025 FAQ addressed a question many players asked after the announcement: “so…when is this game releasing?” The answer at the time was the July 22, 2025 launch date. Anyone asking that question today will find that the answer is historical.
When you read an older article, check its publication date before you use its schedule. Any post that describes the beta as upcoming was written before June 9, 2025, and any post that describes the launch as upcoming was written before July 22, 2025.
