Not reliably enough to count on. Sony’s password-change instructions do not promise that changing your PSN password signs you out of every device. If you need to end sessions on other consoles, phones, or browsers, use Account Management > Security > Sign Out on All Devices as well.
What a PSN password change does—and does not guarantee
Sony documents how to change a password, but does not say that doing so automatically ends every active session. Sony says users generally stay signed in until they sign out, although a system update or network outage can also prompt a sign-out. A device may ask you to enter the new password, but the timing and behavior are not documented as a guaranteed, immediate logout on all devices. See Sony’s password instructions and sign-in guidance.
So, if you only want to update an old password, change it normally. If you want to remove access from devices you cannot reach—or are concerned someone else is using your account—change the password and use Sony’s separate all-devices sign-out control.
How to sign out of PSN on all devices remotely
- Sign in to Account Management.
- Select Security in the left sidebar.
- Choose Sign Out on All Devices at the bottom of the page.
This is the remote sign-out option. It ends account sessions; Sony does not say it deletes the account profile from a console or automatically deactivates consoles or changes Console Sharing and Offline Play settings.

If someone else may have access to your account
Work through these steps in order so the person cannot simply keep using an existing session or sign back in with a password they know:
- Change your PSN password.
- In Account Management, choose Security > Sign Out on All Devices.
- Change the password on the email account linked to PSN, especially if a lost or compromised device could access that inbox.
- Set up a passkey or another available sign-in protection method. Passkey availability and setup can depend on your device, account, and region; see Sony’s security best practices.
- Review purchases, payment methods, and account details. If you see unauthorized charges, account changes, or a changed sign-in ID, follow Sony’s compromised-account guidance and contact PlayStation Support.
If you lost a console or phone, sign out all devices promptly and consider whether the device could also access your email or payment information. Remote sign-out does not necessarily remove a saved account profile or undo console-sharing arrangements.

Password change, password reset, and email change are different
- Change a password: Use this when you can access your account and know the current credentials. It is not Sony’s documented all-devices logout command.
- Reset a forgotten password: Use Account Management’s recovery flow and the email link. Sony’s path is Trouble Signing in? > Recover Your Account; see password reset help.
- Change the sign-in ID/email address: Sony explicitly says this signs the account out on all devices. In Account Management, open Security, select Edit next to Sign-In ID (Email Address), enter the new address, save it, and verify it using Sony’s email. Do this when you need to replace an email address, not simply as a routine logout step. See Sony’s sign-in ID guidance.
What about game sharing or another person’s console?
Signing out remotely ends sessions; it is not the same thing as deactivating a device or changing console-sharing settings. If you used your account on someone else’s console, review device and sharing settings separately after securing the account. Access to the account and shared games may be disrupted, and settings may need to be established again through legitimate account controls. Sony warns against sharing account details in its security guidance.

Check that you are entering the new password correctly and that the device is not using an old saved credential. You may also need additional verification; the sign-in ID or email may have changed; or a service or network issue may be interfering. If you do not recognize account changes, cannot access the linked email, or suspect someone changed your details, use Account Management > Trouble Signing in? > Recover Your Account. If recovery is not possible or the account was changed without permission, contact PlayStation Support through Sony’s account recovery page.
