The same official pages do not announce a multiplayer mode for GTA VI. That is different from saying the game will never receive online play. Rockstar could publish new platform or feature information later, but there is no official confirmation to rely on today.
For the specific question “Can PC players play GTA 6 online with friends?”, the accurate answer is therefore: Rockstar has not confirmed that they can. There is currently no official PC version, online launch date, cross-play policy, player-count limit, or PC system-requirement list to use as a buying or upgrade decision.

Rockstar’s support article, Grand Theft Auto VI Platforms, Editions, and Versions, was last updated August 18, 2026. It identifies PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S and discusses Standard and Ultimate editions, but its platform answer does not list PC.

Rockstar’s GTA VI store listing currently shows November 19, 2026. The date should be checked again close to publication and before making plans around launch.
The official GTA VI page likewise shows PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. These pages establish what Rockstar has announced on the pages reviewed; they do not establish that other versions will never exist.

Why “GTA Online” and “GTA VI online” are different
GTA Online is an existing service
Rockstar describes the current GTA Online service as “a dynamic world for up to 30 players, featuring all updates and content since launch, playable solo or with friends.” That description applies to the existing service associated with Grand Theft Auto V. It is not a specification for GTA VI.
You should not carry over GTA Online’s player capacity, missions, progression systems, platform support, or update model as if Rockstar had confirmed the same features for the next game. The 30-player figure is a description of the current service, not a GTA VI multiplayer statistic.

A successor mode would need its own announcement
A future GTA VI online component could have different launch timing, supported platforms, player limits, account requirements, cross-play rules, or pricing. None of those details can be established from the existence of GTA Online.
Rockstar’s current GTA Online service information is available at Rockstar’s official service page. Reading that page as confirmation of GTA VI online would confuse a currently available product with an unannounced feature.
What the GTA+ preorder offer does—and does not—mean
Take-Two’s June 25, 2026 announcement about GTA VI pre-orders mentions a promotional GTA+ month. The announcement says that month can be redeemed so players can access Grand Theft Auto V and other classic Rockstar titles in the GTA+ Games Library.
That wording does not announce a GTA VI multiplayer service, a PC edition, or online access for the next game. A subscription promotion connected with existing titles cannot be used as proof that GTA VI online will launch alongside the game.
Read the announcement in its original context at Take-Two Interactive’s June 25, 2026 release. Until Rockstar publishes a GTA VI-specific online announcement, the GTA+ offer remains an offer involving Grand Theft Auto V and classic titles.

What is not known about a PC version
Because Rockstar has not listed PC for GTA VI in the reviewed official materials, the following practical details are also unavailable from those sources:
- Minimum and recommended PC specifications
- Required operating-system version, processor, graphics card, memory, or storage
- Whether a PC edition would launch on the same day as the console versions
- Which PC storefront or launcher would distribute it
- Whether PC players would share servers with PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S players
- Whether online multiplayer would be included with the base game or offered separately
- Whether a future online mode would support the same player count as GTA Online
- Whether progress, purchases, or characters could transfer between platforms

Look for a distinct online statement

Separate launch timing from later possibilities
If Rockstar announces a PC edition after the console launch, that would establish a future PC release but would not by itself prove that online multiplayer is available on the same day. A later online announcement could also have a separate release date.

Demand concrete multiplayer details
Once a mode is announced, the useful facts to verify are:
- Supported platforms at launch
- Whether PC and console players can play together
- Maximum player count and whether that limit applies to every activity
- Whether online play requires a separate purchase, subscription, or account
- How progression and paid content work across platforms
- Whether the mode is available immediately or arrives in a later update
Until those details appear in an official announcement, treat social-media claims, leaks, retailer metadata, and predictions based on GTA V’s release history as unverified.

If you are deciding whether to wait for PC, the practical distinction is important:
- Confirmed now: Rockstar currently lists GTA VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with November 19, 2026 shown in the store.
- Not confirmed now: a PC edition, a PC release date, PC system requirements, cross-play, or a GTA VI online mode.
- Still possible in the future: Rockstar could announce additional platforms or services, but possibility is not an announcement.
Revisit the official platform and store pages before publication and again before launch. The date, editions, and platform list may be updated after the information reviewed here.

Can PC players play with console friends?
There is no official answer yet. Cross-play requires a specific policy from the publisher, and Rockstar has not confirmed cross-play for GTA VI because it has not confirmed the PC version or GTA VI multiplayer mode in the reviewed materials.
Do not infer cross-play from the fact that the current GTA Online service supports multiple platforms, and do not assume that a future PC edition would share sessions with PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S. Platform availability and cross-play are separate announcements.

- Check the store listing for launch changes. The Rockstar Store page currently lists November 19, 2026; verify the date and available platforms before pre-ordering.
- Look for an announcement that names multiplayer directly. A PC listing alone does not answer whether GTA VI online exists or when it launches.
- Wait for requirements before upgrading a PC. No official GTA VI PC requirements have been published in the materials reviewed.
