Usually, no—if your Words With Friends progress is linked to an account. Reinstall the app and sign in with the same login method and credentials. The exception is an unsecured guest account: Zynga says it cannot be recovered after uninstalling.
What happens to your games when you reinstall?
Progress associated with an account is retrieved when you log in correctly. Zynga also says games and progress transfer to another device after you install the game and sign in properly. Reinstalling the app does not, by itself, mean you lose account-linked progress.

What matters is whether your game was secured to a login method before uninstalling. Zynga lists Email, Facebook, and Sign in with Apple as ways to secure an account.
Check your account before uninstalling
If you can still open the game, check whether it is connected to Email, Facebook, or Sign in with Apple. Playing as a guest is not a recovery method. If you are playing as a guest, secure the account with one of the available login options before removing the app.

Reinstall and sign in to your existing account
- Install the same Words With Friends app you were using.
- Choose the login method associated with your original account. For a Facebook-linked account, use Facebook login. For an email-linked account, use the original email address and password.
- If the game opens a new profile instead of your old one, check that you selected the right login method and entered the exact original credentials.
Zynga warns that an incorrect email can lead to a new account. For a Facebook-linked account, using an email address different from the one associated with the Facebook profile can also start a new player profile.
If you already uninstalled as a guest
Zynga Player Support states: “Guest accounts cannot be recovered if you uninstall the game unless you secure them with a login method.” If you removed the app while playing on an unsecured guest account, Zynga’s reviewed FAQ does not offer an alternate recovery procedure for that account.

If you played on Facebook or the website
Zynga says progress, inventory items, coins, and friends are tied to the account, and that players can continue in the mobile app with the same credentials. When signing in, use the email associated with the Facebook profile; a different email can create a new player. This account guidance is separate from any change to a web or Facebook platform.
