Roblox has not announced a dating feature or launch date. In a July 2025 podcast interview, CEO David Baszucki described dating on Roblox as a possibility “some day” for users 21 and older who are ID-verified and opt in. He suggested a virtual date could be a less intimidating first step for people anxious about meeting in person—but that was a hypothetical vision, not a product announcement.
What did Roblox’s CEO actually propose?
PC Gamer reported on July 28, 2025, that Baszucki made the remarks on the Tech Stuff podcast. The report attributes this statement to him:
“So I think there’s a loneliness epidemic going on in the world, I think I’ll go out on a limb and I’ll say for, in quotes, ’21 and up, ID verified, opted-in [users]’ some day we’ll have dating on Roblox and I think a lot of people who might be afraid to go on a real-life date might find it easier to have a virtual date to start and then, if they connect, move to the physical world. A wellness platform… I think of as a platform to help loneliness and bring connection.”

Is Roblox dating available now?
No. Baszucki described a future possibility, not a feature Roblox said was launching. His remarks did not provide a release date, product details, or a commitment that the idea will be built. Roblox’s earlier May 2023 statement, “Our Vision for All Ages”, discussed age-specific experiences for older users as a distant-future possibility and identified age verification as a potential foundation. That broader vision is context, not confirmation of a dating product.
Would it be for adults only?
In the hypothetical he described, Baszucki specified users “21 and up,” ID verified, and opted in. Those conditions describe his proposed concept; they are not published eligibility rules for an available service. Roblox has not announced how a dating feature would define eligibility, verify identity, handle consent, or protect users.

How does that differ from Roblox’s current chat age checks?
Roblox’s age checks for chat are an existing communications measure, not a dating feature. On January 7, 2026, the company said age checks to chat were rolling out globally wherever chat is available. Roblox described age-based chat as a way to limit communication between adults and children younger than 16 and to let users communicate by age group, with some exceptions through Trusted Connections.
Roblox also described its verification and moderation processes, including deletion of images after facial age-estimation processing and alternative verification methods for appeals. These are company descriptions of its safeguards; they do not establish that a future dating product would use the same systems or meet the hypothetical’s proposed 21-plus condition. Do age checks guarantee a future dating feature would be safe?
No. Roblox’s January 2026 update explicitly says no system, including Roblox’s, can prevent all objectionable content from appearing on the platform. Age checks for chat should not be read as a guarantee against harmful interactions, proof that adult-minor contact is impossible, or evidence that a dating feature has been made safe.
The company reported on February 5, 2026, that 45% of its 144 million daily active users globally had completed an age check. That is Roblox’s snapshot at that date—not an October 2026 figure or an independently verified measure. Its update also reported that Persona’s age-estimation models had a mean absolute error of 1.4 years for users younger than 18 in testing by the UK’s Age Check Certification Scheme. That vendor-model test statistic does not establish the accuracy of every individual estimate. Roblox’s account of the figure is in “Moving Beyond Self-Reported Age”.
