Will the Next Xbox Be More Powerful Than PS6—and Cost More? What the Leak Says

A 2025 leak predicted a stronger, pricier next Xbox, but the alleged specs and $800–$1,200 estimate remain unconfirmed.

One leaker predicted that Microsoft’s next Xbox could outperform the PlayStation 6 and cost more, but neither claim is confirmed. The prediction, attributed to YouTuber Moore’s Law Is Dead in October 2025, was based on an alleged AMD Magnus chip—not final specifications or independent performance tests.

What did the leak claim?

TechRadar and Video Games Chronicle reported that Moore’s Law Is Dead said an alleged AMD Magnus APU would make the next Xbox stronger than PS6, while also making it more expensive. The reports do not provide confirmation from Microsoft or Sony. TechRadar’s October 14, 2025 report and VGC’s October 13, 2025 report both attribute the claim to the leaker.

The alleged performance advantage

VGC reported the leaker’s claim that the Magnus APU would be 46% larger than the processor supposedly planned for PS6. That is an unverified chip-size comparison, not a measurement of game performance: die area alone does not show how quickly games will run. The report also said the leaker did not know confirmed clock speeds and put the Xbox’s possible lead at no more than about one-third in an extreme scenario.

The prediction was more restrained than “stronger” might suggest. The leaker reportedly expected performance to be roughly similar on average, with a possible advantage more noticeable in PC-oriented use, such as higher frame rates on a gaming monitor. There are no benchmark results in these reports to establish that prediction.

The alleged price

TechRadar reported Moore’s Law Is Dead’s estimate of $800–$1,200 for the next Xbox. The leaker’s stated rationale included a larger processor, bridge dies and potentially more RAM for a PC-console hybrid. This is an estimate from the leaker, not a Microsoft price announcement or a confirmed retail range.

Is there a separate estimate that it could cost twice as much as PS6?

Yes, but it is a different person’s speculation, not corroboration of the $800–$1,200 figure. In a September 2, 2025 report, TechSpot described KeplerL2’s hypothesis that a next Xbox could cost around twice as much as PS6 if Microsoft sold it at a profit and earned less third-party software revenue. That scenario is also unconfirmed. TechSpot’s report should not be read as an additional official price estimate.

What does Project Helix tell us?

By 2026, Microsoft’s next-generation Xbox project was being discussed under the name Project Helix. GameSpot’s explainer summarizes public platform goals and reports on possible release timing and pricing, while distinguishing estimates and reports from official commitments. It says Microsoft had not provided specific internal specifications in the information it reviewed. Those public goals do not verify the alleged Magnus configuration or establish that Helix will outperform PS6. GameSpot’s Project Helix explainer provides that distinction.

Windows Central has reported a multiyear AMD partnership and described a potentially PC-like Xbox, including possible third-party storefronts. Those are outlet-reported implementation details, not a complete official specification sheet. Windows Central’s February 2, 2026 report discusses that possibility.

PC Gamer reported Xbox chief Asha Sharma using the phrase “leading-end performance” for Helix and emphasizing new business models. That reported phrase signals an ambition, but it does not establish a technical comparison with PS6 or a retail price. PC Gamer’s June 11, 2026 article provides the context.

What can buyers conclude now?

The reports support only a description of competing rumors: one leaker predicted a more powerful but more expensive Xbox, and a separate leaker speculated that it could cost about twice as much as PS6. Neither console’s final specifications or retail price are established by these claims, and there is no verified benchmark comparison. A useful buying comparison will require confirmed prices and specifications, independent game-performance tests, and details on game libraries, compatibility and any PC-style features.
