As of October 8, 2026, Paradox Interactive has not officially announced or confirmed Hearts of Iron V, and there is no confirmed release date. Paradox has announced new Hearts of Iron IV content, but an add-on for the existing game is not evidence that a sequel is in development.
Has Hearts of Iron 5 been announced?
No. The official Paradox materials checked for this article do not announce Hearts of Iron V or confirm that it is being developed. That means there is no official release window, platform list, feature list, or roadmap to report. Treat claims about those details as speculation unless Paradox makes a new announcement.

What Paradox has announced
New Hearts of Iron IV content
On April 14, 2026, Paradox announced Peace for Our Time, a Hearts of Iron IV Focus Pack scheduled for release on April 22, 2026. The announcement describes content focused on Czechoslovakia and identifies the game as a World War II grand strategy title. It concerns an add-on for Hearts of Iron IV, not a fifth mainline game.

Paradox announced Afterworld on August 25, 2026. The announcement presents it as a new grand strategy game from Paradox Development Studio, the studio behind Crusader Kings III and Hearts of Iron IV. It does not say that Hearts of Iron V is in development.

Does Paradox’s focus on strategy games mean HOI5 is coming?
No firm conclusion follows from that. Paradox describes strategy and management games as central to its business and lists Hearts of Iron among its successful series and internally developed brands. Those statements establish the franchise’s place in the company’s portfolio; they do not commit Paradox to making another installment.
How to tell a confirmed HOI5 announcement from speculation
- Look for an official Paradox announcement. A release date, development status, or feature claim is not confirmed just because it appears in a rumor or fan discussion.
- Check what the announcement actually names. New Hearts of Iron IV content is not a Hearts of Iron V announcement, and news about another Paradox game does not establish a HOI5 plan.
- Monitor Paradox’s official channels. Its game announcements, investor events and disclosures, and financial reports are places to check for future company news. The investor pages checked here do not confirm HOI5.
If Paradox announces a fifth game later, its official announcement will be the reliable source for whether it exists and what has been confirmed. Until then, a release window or feature list should be treated as unverified.
