Yes, using an unlock tool in Warzone carries a real risk of enforcement. Activision explicitly lists unlock tools among cheating products, and its policy prohibits unauthorized software used to alter gameplay, stats, or game data. That does not mean every user will receive the same penalty—or that public policy can predict what will happen to a particular account.
Why unlock tools put an account at risk
In a September 18, 2026 article, Call of Duty’s Team RICOCHET explicitly included “Unlock tools” in its discussion of cheating products. The article says technical detections look for unauthorized software interacting with the game, while behavioral systems analyze gameplay over time for patterns associated with automated assistance. Team RICOCHET’s article does not publish an unlock-tool-specific detection rate or say that every tool or use is detected.
Activision’s Security and Enforcement Policy applies to Call of Duty titles starting with Modern Warfare (2019) and later. It broadly prohibits unauthorized software used to cheat, mod, or hack, including software that changes or facilitates gameplay or manipulates stats or game data. The policy does not carve out an exception for tools marketed as “unlock only.”
What penalties are possible?
Activision lists warnings, temporary and permanent bans, hardware bans, and other restrictions as possible enforcement actions. The policy says temporary-ban length depends on severity; extreme or repeated violations may result in permanent suspension and hardware bans. It does not set a fixed penalty for every unlock-tool scenario or give a public probability of enforcement.

- Officially licensed Call of Duty Ghost figure: Heavy-duty PVC construction with sturdy black base holds gaming controllers, mobile phones, remotes, and more without tipping over during intense gaming sessions
A permanent ban can have consequences beyond one Warzone account: Activision says permanent bans may apply across past, present, or future Call of Duty titles. The specific outcome depends on the case, so neither a guaranteed ban nor a guaranteed lesser penalty can be inferred from the public policy.
Does a “private” or “undetectable” claim make a tool safe?
No. A seller’s description does not change Activision’s rules or establish that using a tool is safe. The Call of Duty Code of Conduct says, “You are responsible for how your account is used,” and that “The use of cheats, including third-party software, is unacceptable.”

Activision does not publish a tool-by-tool safety list or detection guarantee. Avoid treating marketing claims, or the fact that other users say they have not been penalized, as permission or reliable evidence about your account’s risk.

If you believe an enforcement action was made in error, use Activision’s official ban-appeal process and review the Security and Enforcement Policy. An appeal is a way to ask Activision to review the action, not a promise that it will be reversed. The policy describes a range of possible penalties but does not provide a guaranteed appeal outcome.
