Windows 11 KB5063060 was a genuine out-of-band cumulative update released on June 11, 2025 for Windows 11 version 24H2. It fixed a specific incompatibility between Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) and Windows 11 24H2 that could cause unexpected restarts or, in some cases documented by Microsoft, a MEMORY_MANAGEMENT blue screen when an affected game launched.
It is not a current standalone gaming-performance patch. In 2026, most users should install the latest applicable Windows 11 24H2 cumulative update instead of trying to find KB5063060 separately, because later cumulative updates include earlier fixes.

What KB5063060 was
KB5063060 was released on June 11, 2025, one day after the regular June Windows update. It applies to Windows 11 version 24H2, all editions, and updates the operating system to build 26100.4351.
Microsoft classified it as an out-of-band (OOB) cumulative update. That means it was issued outside the normal monthly servicing schedule because the EAC compatibility problem warranted a faster fix. Microsoft said the update included the previous security update’s fixes and improvements as well as the EAC-related correction. See Microsoft’s KB5063060 support article.

At release, Microsoft intended the update to arrive through Windows Update and Microsoft Update automatically on relevant systems. It was not an experimental patch simply because it was released out of band.
What problem did it fix?
The documented problem occurred when Windows 11 24H2 interacted with an incompatible Easy Anti-Cheat component as a game launched. Microsoft described the result as an unexpected Windows restart. Its release-health documentation also described affected systems becoming unresponsive and displaying a MEMORY_MANAGEMENT BSOD.

KB5063060 addressed the specific Windows/EAC incompatibility. It did not promise higher frame rates, lower latency, broader game compatibility, or a solution for every crash involving anti-cheat software.

- Intel Alder Lake or newer processors;
- the Intel vPro platform; and
- an incompatible Easy Anti-Cheat driver, commonly one released before April 2024.
That does not mean every PC with an EAC game installed was vulnerable. Microsoft did not expect the issue merely because older EAC files were present; the incompatibility was associated with launching the affected EAC component through a game.

Why some PCs were not offered Windows 11 24H2
Microsoft placed a compatibility safeguard hold on affected devices, preventing them from being offered Windows 11 24H2 through the normal Windows Update channel. The safeguard ID was 52325539.
Microsoft marked the issue resolved and removed the hold on July 24, 2025. It also warned that some machines could still show an EAC compatibility message and that EAC updates depended on the individual game publisher. A manual upgrade to 24H2 could bypass the normal safeguard, potentially leaving an incompatible game or driver in place. There is a naming discrepancy in Microsoft’s KB5063060 article: it refers in places to the preceding update as KB506842. Microsoft’s Windows 11 release-information table identifies the June 10 update as KB5060842, build 26100.4349. The latter is the consistent release-history entry and appears to be the intended KB number.

How to check whether your PC already has the fix
- Press Windows key + R, type
winver, and press Enter. - Confirm that the system is running Windows 11 version 24H2.
- Open Settings > Windows Update > Update history.
- Look for KB5063060 or, more importantly, a later cumulative update.
- Return to Settings > Windows Update, select Check for updates, install all applicable updates, and restart.
You can check specifically for the old package in PowerShell:
Get-HotFix -Id KB5063060If that command reports that the KB is not found, the old package may have been superseded rather than absent. List installed hotfixes instead:
Get-HotFix | Sort-Object InstalledOn -DescendingFor a broader package-level view, open Command Prompt as an administrator and run:
dism /online /get-packages /format:tableThese checks confirm installed servicing packages; they do not prove that every EAC or game problem has been resolved.

Do you still need KB5063060?
Usually not as a separate download. KB5063060 is a historical 2025 update. Microsoft’s Windows 11 release history lists multiple later cumulative updates for 24H2, and cumulative servicing carries earlier quality and security fixes forward. If Windows Update says the PC is current, do not uninstall newer updates just to force KB5063060 onto the system.

Install the latest applicable cumulative update when:
- the PC runs Windows 11 24H2;
- Windows Update offers an update;
- the installed build predates later 24H2 servicing; or
- you are experiencing the documented EAC-related restart or BSOD behavior.
KB5063060 remains useful for historical troubleshooting, documentation, and offline servicing, but it is not normally the correct current endpoint. It also does not apply to Windows 11 23H2.
If an EAC game still crashes
Work through these steps in order:
- Confirm Windows and the build. Use
winverand install all available Windows updates. - Update the game. EAC is commonly installed or updated by the game publisher, and Microsoft noted that availability of EAC updates depends on that publisher.
- Repair or reinstall EAC. Use the repair option in the game’s installation folder or official launcher. Do not download unofficial EAC installers.
- Verify the game files. Use the Verify or Repair feature in Epic Games Launcher, Steam, or the relevant official launcher.
- Update system drivers. Prioritize chipset, graphics, storage, motherboard, and firmware updates from the PC or motherboard manufacturer. A graphics-driver update is not a guaranteed EAC fix.
- Record the exact stop code.
MEMORY_MANAGEMENTandIRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUALcan also result from defective RAM, storage problems, drivers, or other system faults. - Review Reliability Monitor and Event Viewer. Check the crash time, game executable, EAC service, and repeated driver failures. Treat these logs as clues rather than definitive proof of the root cause.
- Test the system without launching the affected game. Microsoft said the documented issue was not expected from inactive older EAC files alone.
- Contact the publisher. If the game ships an outdated or broken EAC component, only its publisher may be able to provide the required update.
Should you uninstall KB5063060?
No, not as a first response. The update was cumulative and included security fixes from the June 10 release. Removing it can reintroduce security exposure, and uninstalling an old package may not remove the relevant code if a later cumulative update is installed.
Consider a supported rollback only when the PC became unusable immediately after a specific update, the failure is reproducible, no newer fix is available, and the rollback is performed through Windows Update or Windows recovery controls. Do not assume that every post-update game crash justifies removing the update.

- September 30, 2024: Microsoft records the EAC and Windows 11 24H2 compatibility issue.
- June 10, 2025: Microsoft releases regular 24H2 update KB5060842, build 26100.4349.
- June 11, 2025: Microsoft releases KB5063060 out of band, bringing systems to build 26100.4351.
- July 24, 2025: Microsoft removes the safeguard hold after marking the issue resolved.
- 2026: Later 24H2 cumulative updates supersede KB5063060 for normal installation purposes.
