To craft Survivor’s Boots in Windrose’s Islander Quest, you need 2 Rough Hide and 2 Coarse Fabric, crafted at the Armor & Clothing Workshop. The workshop has to be built and placed under a roof before its recipes will work. Guides and wiki pages agree on these quantities, but none of the sources reviewed is official developer documentation, so if your recipe window shows different costs, trust the in-game entry.
What you need before you start
The boots themselves are cheap. Most of the work is in the station and the Coarse Fabric that feeds it. The table below lists every material the sources name for this objective, including the cost of the workshop, because you will need to gather those materials first.

In total, plan for 12 Coarse Fabric (10 for the workshop and 2 for the boots), 5 Wood, and 2 Rough Hide.
Step-by-step: crafting the boots
- Gather Wood and Plant Fiber. Collect 5 Wood for the workshop and enough Plant Fiber to make 12 Coarse Fabric.
- Craft Coarse Fabric at the regular workbench. A walkthrough describes making Coarse Fabric from Plant Fiber at the standard starter workbench, not the armor station. Make 12 in total so you have 10 for the build and 2 for the boots.
- Build the Armor & Clothing Workshop. Place it with 10 Coarse Fabric and 5 Wood.
- Put a roof over the workshop. Several walkthroughs state the station needs roof coverage to operate. Confirm the roof is over the workshop itself, not just nearby.
- Collect 2 Rough Hide. Hunt Boars in the Coastal Jungle. The sources do not establish how often a Boar drops Rough Hide, so expect to kill more than one if the first attempts yield none.
- Craft the boots. Open the Armor & Clothing Workshop’s recipe interface and craft Survivor’s Boots using 2 Rough Hide and 2 Coarse Fabric.
- Equip the boots. If the quest asks you to wear the new footwear, equip them from your inventory.
Troubleshooting the workshop
Most failed attempts come from one of three causes. Check them in this order:

- The recipe does not appear or cannot be crafted: confirm you are using the Armor & Clothing Workshop, not the regular workbench. Boots are not made at the starter bench.
- The workshop does not function: confirm it is under a roof. Walkthroughs describe roof coverage as a requirement, not a suggestion.
- Materials are short: recount Coarse Fabric. The workshop build uses 10 and the boots use 2, so 12 are needed across both steps.
If the recipe lists costs that differ from 2 Rough Hide and 2 Coarse Fabric, the game version you are running may have changed. The guides reviewed were not tied to a specific patch, so follow the in-game recipe.
Where this fits in the Islander Quest
The quest reference places the boots objective early in the camp progression, after you obtain Rough Hide and before the next exploration and crafting goals. The quest’s NPC describes the problem in their own words, as reproduced by The Games Wiki:

Because the workshop and its roof are needed for more than this one item, it is worth building it once and reusing it for later armor and clothing recipes.

Naming and version notes
Guides refer to the station both as the Armor & Clothing Workshop and as the Armor & Clothes workbench. Both names describe the same crafting station in the sources reviewed. The most recent guide among them was updated April 20, 2026. Because Windrose is still in active development, verify costs and station names in your own game if they do not match this page.
