Verdict
Windswept is for readers interested in the overlap between landscape, creative lives, and women’s freedom to move through the outdoors. Its defining appeal is the combination of Abbs’s own walks with researched encounters with earlier women; it is less suited to someone looking for practical hiking directions or a conventional biography of just one subject. The title alone is ambiguous, so make sure the copy in question is Annabel Abbs’s Windswept: Walking the Paths of Trailblazing Women.
