Which traces can it remove?
TriSun’s official feature list covers Windows usage records, Microsoft application traces, and browser data. The exact checkboxes visible in a particular build should take precedence over any general feature list.
Windows and Microsoft traces
- Recent documents and their shortcuts.
- Start-menu Run history.
- Search history.
- Open and Save dialog history.
- MUI cache entries.
- Records of software-usage frequency.
- Recent documents associated with Windows and Microsoft applications.
These entries are generally convenience and activity records. Removing them can make a Recent Documents list or Run box look empty, but it does not remove the underlying application, document, or account.
Browser traces
The official description names browsing and download history, cookies, and browser cache. A Softaro reference additionally lists Chrome, Edge, and Firefox history, downloads, cookies, passwords, and autofill data. That expanded list is third-party documentation rather than a current independent verification by TriSun. Passwords and autofill are especially consequential: leave those categories unchecked unless you deliberately want saved sign-ins or form data removed.

Application-specific records
The same third-party reference mentions traces associated with Microsoft Office, Windows Defender, Notepad, Paint, WordPad, Registry Editor, and Remote Desktop. Treat these as build-dependent. If a category is absent from the Scan results, WinExt cannot clean it through that installation.

“Up to nine resources” refers to a cleaning operation, not nine files or nine total traces. A single resource can contain many individual records. If you need more than nine categories, perform separate scans and cleanings in the Free edition, or use Pro if your licensing terms allow it.
Versions, dates, and Windows compatibility
The standalone Privacy Protector page identifies version 1.0 and a release date of May 25, 2021. TriSun’s WinExt homepage separately lists suite version 30.0 with a June 16, 2022 update entry. Those records describe different things: suite version 30.0 is not evidence that the standalone Privacy Protector module is version 30.0.
The cited pages do not establish current Windows 10 or Windows 11 compatibility. Windows users should therefore check the installer’s requirements and test the scan on a non-critical account before deploying it widely. Do not infer Windows 11 support solely from the fact that the suite page has a 2022 date.
How to scan and clean safely
- Close applications first. Exit Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Office, and other programs whose files or histories you intend to inspect. Open files can be locked or rewritten while WinExt is scanning.
- Launch WinExt Privacy Protector. Review the resource tree rather than immediately choosing a blanket-clean option.
- Choose a selection method. Use Recommended for TriSun’s suggested set, Check all to select every displayed resource, or Uncheck all to start from an empty selection.
- Inspect sensitive categories. Pay particular attention to cookies, saved passwords, autofill, downloads, Remote Desktop records, and any work-related application history. Third-party documentation lists some of these categories, but their presence and wording can vary by build.
- Click Scan. Wait for the progress display and statistics to finish. The results show what the selected resources contain before deletion.
- Review the result list. Use the option to open a resource location or view properties when you need to identify a file or registry-backed record. Export the results to TXT, CSV, XLS, or XLSX if you need an audit trail or want to compare scans over time.
- Click Clean only after review. Confirm that the selected categories match your goal. A browser-history cleanup can sign you out of sites if cookies or stored credentials are selected.
- Reopen affected applications. Check that browsers, Office files, and other daily workflows still behave as expected. If a program regenerates a cache, that is normal; caches and histories are recreated during use.
What cleaning does—and does not—protect
It removes local traces
Cleaning can remove shortcuts, lists, cookies, cache files, and other records stored on the Windows installation. This may reduce what another person can see by browsing that account or computer after the operation.
It does not erase every copy
Websites, network administrators, cloud synchronization services, DNS resolvers, employer monitoring systems, backups, and other devices may retain their own records. WinExt operates on the selected local resources; it cannot retract data already sent elsewhere.

It is not secure deletion
The documentation does not claim a cryptographic erase, overwrite guarantee, malware-detection engine, or independent privacy audit. Deleted data may remain recoverable depending on the storage medium and operating-system behavior. Use a purpose-built secure-erasure process when irrecoverability is a requirement.
Browser-cleaning considerations
Browser data is the area most likely to cause an unwanted side effect. History and cache are usually low-risk, while cookies, passwords, and autofill can alter logins and saved forms. Before cleaning:
- Confirm that browser synchronization has completed if you need to preserve data on another device.
- Export or otherwise back up passwords using the browser’s own supported method if you plan to remove them.
- Close every browser window, including background processes.
- Clean one browser at a time and verify the result before selecting another.
- Expect sites to ask for authentication again after cookies are removed.
Chrome, Edge, and Firefox are named in the third-party feature reference, but the official product summary does not provide a current browser-version matrix. Treat a missing or misidentified browser category as a compatibility issue, not as evidence that the browser’s data is safely covered.
How it compares with other privacy cleaners
A meaningful comparison should use the same build date and the same selected resources. Product names alone do not tell you whether two cleaners remove identical traces.

Known limitations and troubleshooting
The scan finds nothing
Close the target application, ensure its profile is active, and run Scan again. A recently created account or an already-cleaned profile may simply contain no matching traces.
A category is missing
Use the installed resource list as the authority. Feature lists from third-party references can describe a different release or a different product configuration.
Cleaning signs you out
Cookies, passwords, or autofill were likely selected. Restore the browser’s saved data from its supported backup or synchronization method, then repeat the cleaning with only history and cache selected.
Windows or an application behaves differently afterward
Restart the application, and if necessary restart Windows. Recreated caches are normal. For business-critical systems, restore from a backup or Windows recovery point rather than repeatedly deleting additional categories.

That is the documented Free-edition limit. Uncheck categories and run multiple operations, or use Pro where unlimited resources are required.
