Early on, levels, stars, and the carry’s key skills usually matter more than gear. As your account advances, shift toward higher skill-card tiers, role-appropriate gear and runes, and account-wide systems. The exact order is community guidance, not a developer-confirmed build, so check current in-game descriptions as balance changes.
What to prioritize first
Use your account’s current unlocks and bottlenecks to decide what comes next. A strong default is to improve the hero who deals most of your damage, rather than spreading scarce star-up and skill materials across the roster. Campaign progress helps unlock more systems, so do not stall it to polish heroes or gear you cannot yet use effectively.
- Invest in one main carry: direct star-up and skill materials to your primary damage dealer before investing broadly in bench heroes.
- Keep advancing Campaign: new chapters open progression systems and activities that become useful later.
- Do recurring resource activities: complete daily quests, use Star Challenge for XP and gold, use Goblin Ground for gold, claim available free shop items, and avoid leaving stamina capped when you can spend it usefully.
- Save summon tickets with a purpose: wait for a rate-up banner that addresses a real roster need rather than summoning without a plan.
- Join a guild: pursue available Abyss Crusade rewards as your account can handle them.
These priorities reflect third-party WAI Guide advice updated June 1, 2026; HABBY’s Google Play listing confirms the game and platform context, but does not verify strategy recommendations.
Upgrade priorities by account stage
Chapter ranges below are approximate guideposts, not hard requirements. Unlocks, balance, and your roster can change what is most valuable at a given moment.
#1 Best Overall
- TENSE TEAMWORK – Work together to defend Castle Bravehold as monsters attack from all sides; trade cards, coordinate plans, and keep at least one tower standing to survive the siege as a united team.
- EDGE-OF-YOUR-SEAT EXPERIENCE – Face plagues, boulders, and boss monsters that disrupt your plans and force strategic choices; each turn adds suspense for both new and experienced players.
- CHOOSE YOUR CHALLENGE – Enjoy four modes: Co-op, Solo, Master Slayer competitive mode, and Overlord where one player controls the monsters; each option offers unique tension and replay value.
- TOWER DEFENSE THRILLS – Featuring 3D towers, vibrant monster tokens, and an illustrated board, this 45-minute adventure blends accessibility with satisfying strategic depth for 1–6 players.
- HEARTHSIDE HARMONY – Bring friends and family together with an easy-to-learn game that blends teamwork, excitement, and warm table energy; ideal for mixed-experience groups and repeat play.
Early game: roughly Chapters 1–80
- Push Campaign and choose a carry. Pick the hero doing most of your damage and concentrate star-up and skill materials there. The beginner guide suggests three to four stars as an early goal.
- Build the carry’s Awakening skills. The WAI skill guide’s early order is Awakening-1, Awakening-2, Awakening-3, then Awakening-Core; it identifies Awakening-Core as a major early power spike.
- Use a healer if your team needs one. For Seraph or Cheffy, the skill guide recommends healing skills ahead of support aura. The beginner guide describes Seraph as a free-to-play healer obtainable from in-game markets; availability and usefulness can change.
- Hold off on serious gear investment. The beginner guide places gear’s relevance around Chapter 80 or later, after Legendary III on Growth Path, and says levels and stars matter more early. Treat that threshold as approximate and guide-reported.
Midgame: roughly Chapters 80–150
- After Awakening-Core, build ATK60-1 and ATK60-2 on the carry. The WAI skill guide says each adds 60% damage. Verify the card’s current in-game description before relying on that multiplier, since it is guide-reported and may change.
- Then develop core support skills. Once the carry has both ATK60 cards, start investing in the primary healer or support. If resources allow, consider a secondary damage dealer’s Awakening path.
- Advance newly available systems and modes. Push Nightmare mode when it opens and work on Akashic Arbor; the progression guide describes Akashic Arbor as a major source of account power.
- Start building the carry’s gear and runes. Focus on the main damage dealer and improve rune choices rather than distributing upgrades across every hero.
- Take relevant mode rewards. Pursue Abyss Crusade milestones and higher Runic Plains difficulty when your account can manage them.
Late game: Chapter 150 and beyond
- Finish the carry’s Blue-1, Blue-2, and Blue-3 cards. The skill guide recommends these before broadly expanding skill investment to supports; benefits vary by card.
- Round out core supports and chain partners. For summon-focused heroes, the guide highlights summon frequency and summon damage as skill priorities.
- Develop account-wide progression. The progression guide emphasizes Statue/Oracle stats, Collection Hall passive bonuses, gear refinement, Abyss Crusade floors, and higher-difficulty rune farming.
- Expand the roster when the game calls for it. Wider investment makes more sense when modes require multiple teams or the main carry and core support breakpoints are covered.
When gear and runes become worth your materials
The June 1, 2026 WAI equipment guide says gear unlocks after Legendary III on Growth Path. It also says upgrades attach to equipment slots rather than individual items, so replacing a temporary piece does not mean upgrading the slot again. The guide reports that runes unlock after six days and Chapter 27; treat both the timing and threshold as version-sensitive rather than universal.
Choose gear for the hero’s role
For a damage dealer, the equipment guide recommends prioritizing weapons and rings because they provide the most ATK. Its role examples include ATK for Seraph, whose healing scales with ATK, and HP/DEF gear for Ice Demon and Blazing Archer. These are guide recommendations; use current skill descriptions and your team’s needs to confirm a stat is useful before spending.

Understand the upgrade materials

It recommends percentage-based rune stats over flat base stats. Material uses and sources can change, so check current in-game menus before committing resources.
How to decide between competing upgrades
When two upgrades compete for limited materials, compare them against your actual account rather than a universal hero ranking:

- COMPLETE SET, NO EXTRAS — In addition to the premium wood and punchboard components listed above, the box includes the game board, active player token, 15 character cards, 16 boss cards, 6 spire adaptation cards, 4 player aid cards, 4 wall tokens, 5 disc tokens, 4 spire completion tokens, a cloth storage bag, and the full rulebook. Everything your group needs to start building, defending, and replaying Elementis is included from the first play.
- Unlock impact: Will advancing Campaign or a system threshold open something you can use now?
- Immediate team value: Does the upgrade improve your carry’s damage or survival, or a core support your team relies on?
- Investment target: Is the hero a carry or core support, rather than a passive or bench unit?
- Opportunity cost: What useful upgrade are you delaying by spending these materials here?
- System availability: Have you unlocked the relevant skill-card tier, gear, rune, or progression system?
- Current version: Does the in-game description still match the guide’s stated effect?
Early in an account, Campaign unlocks and concentrated carry star and skill investment generally outrank gear optimization. Later, higher skill tiers, role-specific equipment, runes, and account-wide systems offer more relevant places to invest.
