This walkthrough covers Wood Side Apartments in the 2024 Silent Hill 2 remake, from entering the building after East South Vale to leaving Apartment 201 for Blue Creek Apartments. The Room 206 safe and coin-cabinet solutions differ by puzzle difficulty: check whether your puzzle setting is Light, Standard, or Hard before using a combination or layout.
Wood Side Apartments route at a glance
Collect the three coins—the Man, Woman, and Snake—then solve the coin cabinet in the first-floor reception back office to get the Apartment 201 Key. The route also requires the Golden Apple Handle from Apartment 108 to reach Apartment 206.
- Take the building maps from the lobby noticeboard. Save in the reception back room and note the coin cabinet; it cannot be completed until you have all three coins. Pick up the Administration Note in the mailbox and locker area beneath the stairs.
- Search Apartment 202 for the flashlight and Chute Courtyard Key. After the Mannequin encounter, return downstairs and use the key on the courtyard door.
- In the courtyard, move the garbage container to climb through the window into Apartment 112. Continue through the apartment hall toward the bars. Trying to take the key there triggers a scene; loop back to reception and collect the now-accessible 2F Hallway Key.
- Go to Apartment 108 and take the Golden Apple Handle from the wardrobe. Use the 2F Hallway Key to reach the upper-floor hall. Apartment 213 contains a Glimpse of the Past. Pick up the Handgun from the red shopping cart in Apartment 217, then return to Apartment 213 and take the Apartment 212 Key beside the television.
- Unlock Apartment 212, cross the balcony into Apartment 210, and follow the connected route to Apartment 208. Put the Golden Apple Handle on the wardrobe and push it aside to reveal a gap in the wall. Crawl through to Apartment 206.
- Open the safe in Apartment 206 for the Man coin and Steel Key. Use the Steel Key to leave, then take the 2F Small Staircase Key from a chair in Apartment 205. Use it on the north staircase door near Apartment 213 to reach the third floor.
- Follow the connected apartments and balcony route to Apartment 312. Crawl through the vent into the laundry room, take the Canned Juice, and use it at the garbage chute. Go downstairs to the courtyard to collect the Woman coin.
- Enter Apartment 116, investigate the bathroom scene, and climb out to the pool. The Snake coin is in the baby stroller in the empty pool; be prepared for enemies in the area.
- Return to the reception back office and solve the coin cabinet. Take the Apartment 201 Key, unlock Apartment 201, and exit through its red door to enter Blue Creek Apartments.
Room 206 safe combination
The safe is part of a trap: entering Apartment 206 through the wall gap leaves you locked inside until you solve it. Read the poem on the wall and find the three number drawings hidden in the room. The clues and combination depend on puzzle difficulty, not combat difficulty.

On Light, the in-game poem reads: “The river flowed right, serene and so clean / The viper zigzagged left, so cruel and mean / And so right I went, my steps short and tense, / Into a darkness, so deep and so dense”. Where to find all three coins
- Man: Inside the Room 206 safe.
- Woman: Clear the garbage chute by using Canned Juice from the laundry room reached through Apartment 312. Then retrieve the coin from the courtyard.
- Snake: In the baby stroller in the pool, reached by entering Apartment 116 and climbing out to the pool.
Coin cabinet solutions by puzzle difficulty
The five-slot cabinet is in the reception back office on the first floor. Each coin has two faces: Man/Sword, Woman/Gravestone, and Snake/Flower. The layouts below use “empty” for an unfilled slot. Read each row from left to right and flip coins to show the named face.

Placing any of the three coins in the top slot finishes the puzzle and can affect the ending, so treat that placement as a consequential choice rather than a purely cosmetic solution. Completing the cabinet awards the Apartment 201 Key.

Optional Apartment 207 achievement
Apartment 207 contains 11 balloons spelling “WELCOME HOME.” Shooting all 11 is tied to the optional “Let’s NOT Party!” achievement. It uses ammunition, so save before attempting it if you want to preserve resources for the route ahead.
