ALIBI is most often a noun. It means a defense that claims an accused person was elsewhere when the alleged offense occurred. The repeated I and alternating vowel-consonant pattern are the main details that can make this answer easy to overlook.

How Wordle’s clues work
Wordle gives you six attempts to guess a five-letter answer. After each guess, tile colors show how your letters match:
- Green: the letter is in the answer and in the correct position.
- Yellow: the letter is in the answer but in a different position.
- Gray: the letter is not in the answer.
When a guess repeats a letter, extra instances are not shown as present unless the answer contains that many instances. That matters for ALIBI, which uses I twice.
