World War Z: Aftermath supports cross-play between PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series X|S. You can form a co-op group of up to four players. Nintendo Switch is excluded from cross-play with those platforms.
Which platforms can play together?
Saber Interactive’s cross-play FAQ lists PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S as compatible. Focus Entertainment likewise describes Aftermath as supporting full cross-play between consoles and PC, including Steam and Epic Games Store.
The FAQ lists PC versions through Steam, Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store, as well as Amazon Luna. Its cross-play answer names PC, PlayStation, and Xbox; it does not say that every store or service has a separate party system.
Nintendo Switch is separate
The original World War Z is available on Nintendo Switch, but Saber says Switch has no cross-play with other platforms. Its FAQ describes local play with other Switch consoles, not joining PC, PlayStation, or Xbox players. Check the platform and edition before buying if cross-platform co-op is essential.

How to join a friend across platforms
The game’s official FAQ confirms cross-play but does not document the invite steps. Players report using a cross-play invite code from the in-game party screen:
- Open the party screen and look for an available party slot or the current cross-play invite prompt.
- Share the displayed code with your friend.
- Have your friend enter the code in their party interface and follow the game’s prompts to join.
This is community-reported guidance, not an official step-by-step procedure, and the menu labels may vary by platform or game version. If the code does not work, confirm that both players are on supported platforms and use the current in-game prompts or Saber Support for help.

How many people can play co-op?
Aftermath supports up to four players in co-op, so one player can host a group with up to three friends. Focus Entertainment’s product page states the four-player capacity and cross-play support.
Do you need a subscription for online co-op?
Saber’s FAQ says online play on PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch requires the applicable platform subscription: PlayStation Plus, Xbox Live, or Nintendo Switch Online. The same FAQ says missions and solo modes are available without a subscription. It does not state a comparable paid subscription requirement for PC.

Does progress carry between platforms?
No continuous cross-progression is supported. Saber says a one-time save transfer is possible through PROS; that is a transfer option, not ongoing synchronization between platform saves. See Saber’s cross-progression FAQ for the current details.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Which version should you get for cross-play?
Choose a PC, PlayStation, or Xbox version if you need to play with friends across those platform families. Switch is outside that cross-play group. Saber lists World War Z: Aftermath in digital and physical formats, but availability depends on the platform and current retailer listings; confirm the edition and platform before purchasing. The publisher’s cross-play FAQ and Aftermath page describe the supported group and co-op capacity.
